🚨New concert alert!🚨

We’ve been prepping for a series of ✨immersive✨ performances of Bach’s St Matthew Passion with Scherzo Ensemble and the Salzburg-based Mozaïque later this month in London, Wi******er and Bromley.⠀

🖼 We’ll be showcasing a collection of artwork, beautifully curated by art historian Dr Imogen Tedbury. Our poster has already kicked off the action, drawing on Fra Angelico’s painting ‘The Mocking of Christ’.

🎶 What’s more, we’re inviting any singers to ‘Come & Sing’ some chorales during each concert, with a rehearsal-masterclass given by conductor Matthew O’Keeffe 30 mins beforehand. ⠀

🎟 For tickets and more info, follow the link below. (NB: 20% discount on group bookings of 6 or more!)⠀

☀️ The sun is shining, and we can't wait for our digital concert tomorrow evening! We'll be singing parts of Sweelinck's 'Cantiones sacrae' from the Dutch Church following a lecture on Vermeer by Dr Richard Stemp.

You might recognise Vermeer's painting here, ‘Girl with a pearl earring’, but how much do you know about it? Perhaps something for your next Zoom quiz 👀

1. Vermeer signed this piece in the top left corner as ‘IVMeer’ (now barely visible). IV = four ≃ ver in Dutch. IVy cleIV!

2. This girl with the pearl earring isn't actually a real person. The painting is what’s called a ‘tronie’, from the Dutch Golden Age. It’s not a portrait but a study of expression.

3. The background here looks black, but it is in fact a very dark green colour that has faded over time.

Tune in tomorrow at 7:30pm to find out more! Link below:

🎨🎵 We’re back this Tuesday with a live-streamed concert exploring Dutch art and music! Dr Richard Stemp will be talking about the artist Vermeer, after which we’ll be singing music from Sweelinck’s ‘Cantiones sacrae’.

Sweenlick’s musical talent and effortless organ improvisation earned him the title ‘Orpheus of Amsterdam’, the composer charming listeners with his music just as in the ancient Greek legend.

Listen to the end of his ‘Beati omnes’ and imagine the crystalline high notes floating up into the vaulted ceilings of the Oude Kerk, where Sweelinck served as organist for 44 years.

We are so excited to perform at the Dutch Church this week!

All of the in-person tickets have now sold out, but no fear - the livestream will be available for FREE on the night. Please head over to the Dutch Centre page and watch it from there on Thursday at 6.30pm.

We've had a few questions on this and just want to clarify: *there is no need to register for the livestream* - just go to the Dutch Centre's page on the evening itself.
