Highbury Festival history

Highbury Festival is an initiative by Christ Church Music Director, Rachel Maby and was founded in 2019 to kick-start fundraising for the refurbishment work needed for the Christ Church piano and organ. After a year of successful events, Christ Church raised the funds to refurbish the 1893 Rosewood Steinway grand piano! This year, all ticket money from the festival will be going towards the organ refurbishment costs, which amount to £255,000.

Highbury Festival features concerts by music groups which rehearse and perform at Christ Church. This year's festival is co-produced by 60 minute concerts Artistic Director, Heather Tuach and features performances by High Holborn Chamber Choir, Fitzwilliam String Quartet, Young Musicians from Cello Studio and North London Festival previous winners and a recital by festival producers, Rachel Maby (mezzo-soprano), Heather Tuach (cello) and Yoko Misumi (piano).

Last year's programme included High Holborn Chamber Choir, Christ Church Jazz Choir, young cellists from Cello Corner and vocal recital by Rachel Maby and former Christ Church organist, Hamish Brown.
