Nitu's professional singing career began in 1986 at the age of 28. After she got married, Nitu moved from Kenya to the UK and formed her own band, 'Nitu & Friends'. Since then, she has performed countless numbers of shows for thousands of people across the UK, Europe, Africa and America. She performs for weddings, conducts funerals, prayers, birthday and anniversary parties, charity shows, also e
ntertaining Senior Citizens and Navratri and other festivals. Since moving from Kenya, Nitu has always made it her mission to go back to help those in need. She works alongside Asian Foundation for Help to make this possible through her annual charity event, 'Saunu Karo Kalyan'. With the funds raised from this event and the donations collected when singing prayers, Nitu has raised thousands of pounds for her various projects in Kenya. These include The Jaipur Foot Project, which provides artificial limbs to the poor, raising money for wheelchairs, zimmer frames and other equipments for school for disabled children, building water bore-holes in the most rural deprived area and building a school for the children who are living in the Slums and helping the Children's orphanage. Just recently, at the Annual Charity Event, a Food bank was set up for the Local Communities and Families in Crisis. 599 kgs of food was donated by the public. So she aims to do this every year and encourages other organisations to do so too.
