While our theatrical influences are vast and diverse, here are our top 5 that have shaped what we do by their sheer genius. Please look em up.
1. Woza Albert a satirical South African play written by Percy Mtwa, Mbongeni Ngema and Barney Simon, first performed The Market Theatre in Johannesburg (if you happen to be there it's on a short run right now until July 26th) . Written in 1981, It remains one of the most influential works of South African protest theatre.
2. Augusto Bol. His essential book “Games for Actors and Non-Actors” is a compendium of games, some of which he invented and others which he picked up on his world travels,
Theatre hiding in plain sight, education by stealth or playfulness to provoke thought or discussion has always felt very powerful.

3. Punchdrunk - Woyzeck- An extraordinary piece of theatre that literally changed my life. I went to the Big Chill Festival with friends and a faltering relationship, got slippy slidey but kept in mind that there was another world at the top of the hill. I finally peeled off from the festival to see their show in the woods (both real woods and woods made out of fence posts) on the Sunday night.
4. Peter Brook’s The Marat Sade- or The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade, is a 1967 British film adaptation of Peter Weiss 's 1964 play.- seek it out if you’ve not seen it, it’s a series of extraordinary ‘what- ifs’ – an education on not only the French Revolution.
5. The Passion National Theatre Part of Tony Harrison’s Mysteries series.
Probably late 70s- could’ve been early 80s,
I was very young and standing very much at the front when Adam and Eve made their unexpected entrance emerging out of a huge tub of earth that had been sat next to me for ages. So Stunning and surprising.
