Now Open: ‘Georg Baselitz: Back Again’ at White Cube Bermondsey ✨

The exhibition brings together paintings and works on paper made between 2023 and 2025, which are among Baselitz’s final works.

In ‘A Never-Ending Conversation’, Matthew Holman’s essay accompanying the exhibition, he writes: ‘For his final act, Georg Baselitz returns to familiar ground, revisiting figures and motifs that have shaped his practice over six decades.’

Reflecting on the works on view in the exhibition, Holman observes how the paintings ‘mark a return, each return a transformation, the canvas holding what the world could not.’

📍 ‘Georg Baselitz: Back Again’ is on view at White Cube Bermondsey until 30 August 2026

Opening Soon: ‘Yoko Matsumoto: Gazed at by Nature’ at White Cube Seoul

Attesting to a lifelong negotiation between two worlds, Yoko initially worked with water-based acrylic paint for its likeness to East Asian sumi ink, before going on to master the medium of oil paint, so integral to Western art history and tradition.

In an essay commissioned to accompany the exhibition, art historian Reiko Tomii writes:

‘She has unified the spirits and methods of these two mediums to luminous effect. We may indeed argue: when oil and water are merged, light emerges from the paintings of Yoko Matsumoto.’

📍 ‘Gazed at by Nature’ will be on view from 18 June – 14 August 2026 at White Cube Seoul.

White Cube Books: David Hammons 📖✨️

This monograph on David Hammons provides insight into the mind of an elusive artist who has long resisted assimilation to the art establishment.

An extended essay by acclaimed poet, novelist and playwright, Ben Okri, explores Hammon’s critical approach to the cult of artistic personality contrasting his own cool indifference to self-image.

Works by Hammons are currently on view at ‘David Hammons and Jannis Kounellis’, White Cube New York, until 13 June 2026.

In Focus: Jannis Kounellis at White Cube New York

Throughout his career, Jannis Kounellis developed a singular material language, transforming humble, everyday objects into social, cultural and historical signifiers.

As a leading figure of Arte Povera, Jannis sought to redefine artistic expression, constructing a space in which past and present converge, collapsing the division between art and everyday life.

Across these works, flowers, burlap sacks, blankets, iron, and light become part of a complex network of associations in which past and present, fragility and permanence converge.

📍 ‘David Hammons and Jannis Kounellis’ is on view at White Cube New York until 13 June 2026.

Now Open: ‘White Cube at Claydon’ ✨

In an exhibition hosted by the National Trust, White Cube presents over 40 works of contemporary art across Claydon House and its extensive grounds.

Beyond the neutral premises of the contemporary gallery, Claydon offers a more complex site of encounter, bearing the annotations of time, incident and accumulated history.

Here, the artists and makers of the past intermingle with the concerns and narratives of today; the historic encountered as though newly made, the contemporary as the relics of future ages.

📍 ‘White Cube at Claydon’ is on view until 14 September 2026 at Claydon House, Buckinghamshire

On View: ‘Antony Gormley: Geestgrond’ at KMSKA

Unfolding across the museum’s halls and extending outdoors, the exhibition explores the depth of Antony’s oeuvre whilst interacting with works from the museum's permanent collection.

The title ‘Geestgrond’ combines the Dutch words geest (spirit, mind, breath) with grond (earth, soil, foundation). The term refuses the split between the spiritual and the material, the human and the planetary.

'My work asks the questions: What can sculpture do and what does it mean to be alive?' – Antony Gormley 💬

📍The exhibition is now on view until 20 September 2026 at KMSKA, Antwerp, Belgium.

Coming Soon: ‘Sara Flores: Akinananti’ at White Cube New York

‘The work I do, I don’t do just for myself, but to share with those in need.’ – Sara Flores

In this excerpt from ‘Sara Flores in Her Own Words’ (2025), the artist reflects on the knowledge systems that underpin her practice, from preparing dyes derived from trees and botanicals to working in reciprocity with her environment and community.

Sara’s works are part of a tradition passed down matriarchally through generations.

📍‘Sara Flores: Akinananti’ will be on view from 25 June – 14 August 2026 at White Cube New York

Suleman Aqeel Khilji’s first exhibition with White Cube will feature new paintings and works on paper that express the indeterminate nature of memory and the passing of time.

'I do want to see my work as something from the past. Like you’re looking at the work as an excavated object, and it’s been excavated and it’s been aged through time.' - Suleman Aqeel Khilji

📍The exhibition will be on view from 11 June - 25 July 2026 at White Cube Paris.

Join us for the opening of ‘Georg Baselitz: Back Again’ at White Cube Bermondsey ✨

One of the last exhibitions conceived by the late German artist Georg Baselitz (1938–2026), the presentation takes its title from one of the artist’s final paintings, a now poignant testament to his drive to return, distil and resolve the motifs that defined a career spanning more than 60 years.

Visitors can enjoy German beer and pretzels in the Bermondsey courtyard during the preview.
