Chatback Theatre is a small, independent theatre company created to tell human stories inspired by true events and real people that explore the world and our place in it.
Our first play ‘Rachael’s Cafe’ was based on the true story of Rachael Jones, a transgender woman living on the Bible Belt in Indiana. It premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe before heading to Dublin Gay Theatre Festival, the Brighton Fringe and finally a three week run at the Old Red Lion Theatre in London. The play received lovely reviews including ★★★★ from WhatsOnStage, the Islington Gazette, ScotsGay Magazine, Theatre & Performance, Three Weeks and The Reviews Hub. Playwright Lucy Danser also read from the script at Polari at the Royal Festival Hall.
Our second play ‘Lost in Thought’ premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2018 where it ran for one month at Underbelly and was developed with and supported by Soho Theatre Young Company. A two-hander for two women, it explored Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and mother-daughter relationships. ‘Lost in Thought’ received ★★★★ from a number of reviewers including The Scotsman and was featured on BBC Radio Ouch Podcast and in The List. It received a London showing at Theatre503.
