We are very excited about this Friday 18th September when we have another of our ‘double header’ evenings with two top drawer acts appearing on the same bill at St Harmonica’s. Two of the finest acts from the West Country in the form of Stompin’ Dave with Lucy Piper and Vince Lee with Sophie Lord.

In other parts of the world they have cyclones, tornados, and hurricanes, in the UK we have Stompin’ Dave; a phenomenal artist, great guitar player and vocalist and accomplished songwriter. Dave is a former member of one time UK Blues Band of the Year ’ The Producers’. He consistently gives over one hundred performances per year across the UK and beyond, including many major festivals including Glastonbury. His duo with Lucy Piper on drums smashed it at York Blues Festival, Upton Blues Festival, The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, Lancashire, and many others last year

Lucy Piper has been described by the Guardian as "one of the UK's leading blues drummers”. Residing in Exeter, Devon, Lucy is the daughter of the late blues guitarist Julian Piper widely acknowledged as leading UK authority on blues. Lucy and Dave have been performing regularly together since 2022 with many appearances at various festivals and art centres and are hugely in demand https://stompinstore.com/lucy-piper

Vince Lee and Sophie Lord are a vintage blues and roots duo based in Plymouth UK. Vince has been playing and singing the blues in all its forms since the mid 80s and has influenced many likeminded musicians with his wide repertoire and virtuoso guitar playing. Sophie Lord joined forces with Vince in early 2022 switching from electric bass to double bass in the process. their stripped back style touches on jump blues, calypso, swing & ragtime. As well as their UK profile Vince & Sophie are big on the Southern California Blues circuit, playing many notable blues clubs as well as the Gator By The Bay & Topanga Blues Festival for a 2nd time. They are the only act in the festival’s long history to have played the historic Topanga Blues Festival twice in a row. In 2026 Vince was nominated for 2 UK Blues Awards.

Both acts will perform sets of around one hour; Vince Lee & Sophie Lord will play from 8.30pm followed by Stompin’ Dave & Lucy Piper at around 10.00pm. We are very lucky to have been able to secure these artists, be prepared to be thoroughly entertained! https://vinceleesophielord.bandcamp.com

We’re back this Friday 11th September at our home at the Southgate Club with a blistering start to the autumn term. Kaspar ‘berry’ Rapkin has been making considerable waves on the blues scene with airplay from Cerys Matthews on Radio 2’s Blues Show and headline performances at top festivals. We were fortunate to have Kaspar perform a support slot for us early in the summer and he returns on Friday as part of his album launch tour with the Swampdogs: Ian Davidson on bass & cello and Mia Casey on drums and washboard. Together Kaspar and the Swampdogs blend deep blues traditions with a modern edge drawing from the Mississippi Delta and New Orleans and delivering a sound that feels immediate, unique and contemporary; swamp and gospel inflected blues.
A UK Blues Young Artist nominee Kaspar has been described as a 100 year old soul in the body of a 25 year old. https://www.kbrblues.com

Don’t miss this unique evening and support the future of UK Blues.

All kicked off with a performance from the Godfather of North London Blues, ‘Mad Dog’ Dave Barnes. What an evening; we’ll see you there.

Support starts at 8.30pm followed by two sets from the main act starting just after 9.00pm

Membership Cards are available on the door @ £10 for the year. You’ll need your monochrome 2026 membership card for free admission throughout 2026 to all Friday Blues evenings and Sunday Jam nights. As there are only four months left of 2026 we’ll throw in your orange 2027 membership card for free when you join now. We just ask for a contribution into the hat to go towards the musicians’ costs.

See you soon,

Simon, John, Chrissie & Dave

The Feelgood Band
+
Brett Marvin & the Thunderbolts

Sunday 30th August 2026
1.30pm - 5.30pm
We conclude our ever popular annual Broomfield Blues on the Bandstand in Broomfield Park N13 4PL this Sunday with two absolutely fantastic bands to remind you of the early 1970s and rock Broomfield Park to its core. The legendary Brett Marvin and the Thunderbolts kick off proceedings at 2.40pm. In their heyday this band supported Eric Clapton on a UK tour and had a number two hit. People thought they should have been available on the National Health. And pretty much the same with The Feelgood Band, indistinguishable from the real thing and the real Canvey Island and Southend sound, playing from around 4.00pm.

We start at 1.30pm with three showcase performances from local musicians followed by our two terrific bands. The weather forecast is not as good as the last three Sundays, but we can cope; unless it is absolutely apocalyptic with sideways rain (Welsh style) then we will be there. My umbrella and cagoule are feeling under utilised this summer so they’ll appreciate a run out.

We’ve got our usual terrific bar courtesy of the Little Green Dragon Ale House, and some fine hot festival food will be cooked on site by Annita Correa and her team to help you through the afternoon.

What a way to spend Sunday afternoon on a bank holiday weekend!
