Our Climate Playwriting Prize is open for submissions 🌍 with Climate Spring and Fern Culture

Open to professional UK and UK-based playwrights writing in the English language, the prize is an open invitation to playwrights to respond creatively to the climate and nature crisis. You’ve got until 1 September to apply.

We’re also excited to announce our judging panel for the prize: Globe Artistic Director Michelle Terry, actor and comedian Lenny Henry, playwright Lucy Kirkwood, director Nancy Medina, Climate Spring’s Lucy Stone, Professor Pablo Mukherjee and director Amir Nizar Zuabi.

The winner will get £15,000, dramaturgical support on developing the play, support on next steps to produce the play and more.

Join us for a craft-a-long retelling of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, created by award-winning playwright Hannah Khalil, brought to life entirely with the recycled cardboard magic of designer Sam Wilde and directed by Ian Nicholson.

Created for families and young audiences aged 7+, MakeBeth bursts with live music, puppetry, and hands-on creativity.

This exciting make-along production is created by Cardboard Adventures and Shakespeare’s Globe, in partnership with Chichester Festival Theatre and Leeds Playhouse
