CAMDEN FRINGE STARTS HERE. 🎟️

Today marks the beginning of a full month of bold new theatre at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre, as Camden Fringe returns from 3rd to 30th August 2026.
Across August, we are welcoming 17 brilliant productions to our stage, bringing together new writing, dark comedy, surreal stories, sharp social commentary, intimate solo work and some truly unexpected theatrical worlds.

From chaotic film sets, haunted histories and inefficient hospitals to q***r friendships, grief, identity, technology, doomed romance and the strange people we become when nobody is looking, there is something new to discover every night.

🪱 OPENING NIGHT | MOLE MAN THE MUSICAL

Tonight we’re delighted to welcome The Makers Theatre to the Lion & Unicorn Theatre for the world premiere of Mole Man The Musical.

Inspired by the extraordinary true story of William Lyttle, the infamous “Mole Man of Hackney”, this brand new musical burrows beneath the surface to explore obsession, conformity and mass hysteria.

Deep underground, a family of worms find their world turned upside down when mysterious digging tears open the earth above them. As Mole Man is dragged before the court, questions of justice, truth and perspective begin to emerge in a wonderfully original story that promises to leave audiences with more questions than answers.

Funny, imaginative and unlike anything else you’ll see this summer, Mole Man The Musical is a bold new piece of theatre from Laura Harris and The Makers Theatre, a company dedicated to creating unique, entertaining and passion-filled new work.

Tonight we’re delighted to welcome Play The Field Productions to the Lion & Unicorn Theatre with the first performance of A Costume Drama.

When the 2026 Mascot Grand National is thrown into doubt, reluctant Ella finds herself stepping into the oversized shoes of her shell-suit sporting dad, Eddie the Egg, in a heartwarming and hilarious race for glory.

Written and performed by the brilliant Claudia Fielding, and directed by Anna Rastelli, this joyful new comedy explores family, legacy, tradition and the lengths we’ll go to for the people we love. Following its previews with us, the production heads to the Edinburgh Fringe, and we’re thrilled to be part of its journey.

Claudia’s previous work has earned widespread acclaim, with critics describing her as “a writer-performer to keep tabs on” (Everything Theatre) and praising her writing as “intelligent, raw, and deeply human” (LondonTheatre1 ★★★★).

Join us for an evening of laughter, heart and one very unusual sporting event.

The final few weeks of our Spring / Summer Season are about to land.

There’s still time to discover some incredible new theatre before we head into Camden Fringe and our exciting Autumn season.

Over the coming weeks we’re welcoming an outstanding line-up of new companies and artists to the Lion & Unicorn Theatre, alongside new work from Proforca Theatre Company. From heartfelt comedy and original musicals to bold new writing and unforgettable storytelling, there’s something for everyone.

Tonight, Blank Slate Theatre Company opens Tabula Rasa at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre.

When absurdism meets Saw, four strangers wake in a room with no memory of how they got there, and no way out. As identities fracture, alliances shift and reality begins to unravel, the line between comedy and horror becomes increasingly blurred.

Dark, funny, unsettling and completely unpredictable, Tabula Rasa is an unforgettable psychological pressure cooker that asks what remains when everything else is stripped away.

With England now through to the World Cup Semi Final, we’ve made a one-off adjustment to help everyone enjoy both the football and the theatre.

📅 Wednesday’s performance of Tabula Rasa will now begin at 7.00pm.
All other performances remain at 7.30pm as scheduled.

If you’re joining us on Wednesday, you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy this gripping new thriller before settling in for the match afterwards.

Tonight, There’s a Pigeon in My Bathroom arrives at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre.

Four students. One terrified pigeon. One increasingly impossible plan to get their deposit back.

Following a sold-out Midlands premiere, Patrick Large and Perro Loco Productions bring this fast-paced new comedy to London. Packed with awkward flatmate dynamics, terrible decision making and plenty of feathers, it’s already being hailed as “the next Derry Girls or The Inbetweeners.”

Expect 60 minutes of full-throttle chaos, sharp comedy and student life at its absolute worst.
