We are a close knit group at Clapham Community Choir, with some of the group having sung together for many years. Last week at rehearsal we recorded this song 'Peace White Dove' in honour of some members of our community who are going through a very difficult time.

All about Adam!

This week we asked Adam our wonderful Choir Director a few questions to help us get to know him better!

Q: Tell us about how you got into music?

A: I got into music when I was around 7 years old. My parents had a piano in the house and I began working out tunes by ear. I eventually had piano lessons and I haven't stopped learning since!

Q: How was it to work in this industry during COVID?

A: The transition to running the choir on zoom was challenging, however, people got used to it very quickly. We continued to run online throughout all of the lockdowns, and I think people really appreciated that sense of normality through such a turbulent time. We learnt lots of new songs and we also had desert island discs each week where a different member of the choir presented their favourite tracks.

Q: What is your favourite thing about directing the Choir?

A: My favourite thing about directing the choir is seeing the group become more and more confident over the course of a term. We learn lots of new music and to see the transition from the first rehearsal to the performance is very rewarding!

Q: Give us an insight into some unusual/quirky or funny facts about you!

A: I love running and cycling! I recently got a bike and have been exploring the various cycle routes around the capital.

Q: What does your Spotify playlist sound like? Give us a maximum of 5 songs/artists that would help us understand the music you love listening to!

A: I do have quite an eclectic taste in music... and my Spotify playlist changes all the time. However, the artists that I keep on coming back to are Oscar Peterson, D'Angelo, Stevie Wonder and James Taylor. At the moment I'm really into a band called Lawrence.

This Saturday 16th October we are thrilled to be singing at the Herne Hill Music Festival

After so long singing on zoom, we can’t wait to be joining voices for our first public event with Palace Acappella Choir , and the Cambria Choir

Smiles all round at the choir when we get to sing together!

Our in person rehearsals are Tuesday evenings 7:30 - 9pm at St Paul's Church, Clapham (rectory grove)

First session is free, and then only £8 per session. All are welcome to join, no experience needed!

At rehearsal we distance appropriately in the large church hall, and anyone who feels safer wearing a mask is very welcome to!
