World kindness day was yesterday, so this is a slightly belated post to add my voice to everyone reminding everyone else to be kind to others, kind to their environment and kind to themselves. The world needs more and more of this.

Anyone got any good beetroot recipes??
These BEAST BEETS arrived from this week and I am trying to figure out ways to use them up! They will have been saved from being wasted by oddbox as the supermarkets wouldn’t accept them for being too big!

Throwback pics to the last couple of weeks pottering around Uzbekistan. A fascinating country, with friendly people despite the ever watchful eye of the police.
We visited where the Aral Sea used to be, which has now reduced in size by over 200km (an almost unimaginable distance)because of a man made environmental catastrophe - we bore witness to the impact that humans can have on their environment, seeing the abandoned skeletons of boats used for fishing which once used to be the main industry for the area.
We saw the awesome (in the traditional sense) monumental architecture of the old Silk Road - mostly restored by the soviets in the 20th century but it gives an idea of both the power of trade and also how civilisations can crumble.
I was obsessed with the susanis (embroidered throws) made in Uzbekistan, mostly by women - the designs and colours are stunning and require so much skill to make.. and in some places they said they use natural dyes, which takes me back to a class I took last year!
This week I am back to the daily grind (boo!) but feel relaxed and rejuvenated and ready for what the rest of 2019 will bring

Yay! I have finally managed to get my hands on a copy of the encyclopaedia of needlework by TH de Dillmont as recommended by at her talk for - I have a massive mending pile but not quite sure where to start - I’m hoping this will help me! 🧶🧵

I might also need a magnifying glass - look how tiny it is! 🔎
