After a morning of lugging furniture and barrels, mopping loos and all the other super glamorous jobs behind the scenes, I stopped for a moment and smiled and remembered why we have worked to create a space like this. A safe and fun place for people to come together, share ideas, challenge injustice and find out what we all have in common and celebrate our differences. I’ll never forget just what a privilege it is to be able to do this and create this platform for others, and the joy it brings. Anyway back to it, hope to see everyone here soon!

Chats Palace will be hosting Hackney Workers for Palestine's inaugural event of their public 'Decolonising Knowledge' lecture series, with the British Library's Daniel Lowe 🌕 and it's free to attend!

Palestinian political posters are both striking works of art and vital historical records, capturing decades of resistance, activism and solidarity. Despite their global circulation and presence in museum and archive collections, the British Library only recently began acquiring examples of this important form of printed ephemera.

This informal talk presents the development of a new collection of Palestinian posters from the 1960s to today, bringing together a wide range of artists, styles, and political contexts. It reflects on their cultural and artistic significance, while also addressing the practical and ethical challenges of collecting, preserving, and exhibiting political ephemera within institutional settings.

The talk is scheduled for 6 - 7 pm, followed by a Q&A from 7 - 8 pm on Thursday 14 May. There will be opportunities for networking, discussing Palestine-related activism in Hackney more generally, and talking to the speaker in greater depth! Open to all members of the public, so bring friends and family along for an enlightening evening 🌞

We are so chuffed to welcome back to Chats Palace on 9th May with their new show 'After Party', combining the beautiful and uplifting classical vocal talents of their ensemble with a playful and immersive multi-sensory world. Inspired by the intuitive freedom and curiosity of the very young and their talent for turning the world upside down, 'After Party' invites parents to embrace the chaos of the early years, and follow their children into a world of transformation and wonder where every gurgle, tumble, and reach becomes part of the performance 🌞

'After Party' is a durational performance for 0-2s where everyone is free to come as they are and stay as long as they like.

A participatory, inclusive show playing with sensory ways into dance - for visually-impaired and sighted audiences, including families! 💃

are excited to share 'Feel the Beat' on Saturday 4th April at Chats Palace, a participatory dance show with embedded audio description playing with sensory ways into dance. We invite you to move and groove, shimmy and shake, float and fly, as we weave in and out of sensory and poetic worlds, finding our unique beats. Sit and absorb, or stand and soar, our experienced cast and crew will be on hand to guide and feel the beat!

'Feel The Beat' is for visually impaired and sighted audiences, co-created with Kent Association for the Blind. Children 6+ and families can also enjoy this show.

The show is accompanied by FREE workshops specifically for the VI community, and for neurodivergent participants / those with learning disabilities and additional support needs. Tickets to the show and the workshops can be booked on the same Eventbrite page.

Led by an experienced facilitator, these Taster Sessions are fast-paced, fun, and rooted in the Five Ways to Wellbeing — helping you to connect, take notice, be active, keep learning, and give.

Through interactive drama-based exercises, you will explore new ways to express yourself, build confidence and connect with others, all in a relaxed, no-pressure setting that encourages self-discovery. And you’ll have fun!

No previous experience is required, but you have to be 18 years old and above to attend the session. Our Alternative Christmas Market on Sunday was a festive success! We welcomed 250 people through our doors with sustainable gift / decoration ideas, mulled wine, and delicious vegan treats. We'd like to thank all of our wonderful vendors and grassroots partners for making it happen, and everyone who paid us a visit ✨ we'd especially loved meeting our local community and residents!
