Andrew Klee, who has been a member of our First Violins for nearly 50 years, talks to our Visual Artist-in-Residence Artist Jeremy Houghton about his artistic approach to playing the violin, and a concert he played in that was too much for one conductor...

In creating a series of paintings for the Orchestra’s 80th anniversary, Jeremy has sat down with various musicians from the Orchestra to sketch them and find out more about their lives and experiences in the art of making music.

Did you catch us at the BBC Proms on Sunday?

We returned to the world's biggest classical music festival in a sold-out performance at the Royal Albert Hall conducted by our Music Director Vasily Petrenko. Featuring in the programme was Webern's Passacaglia, Walton's Symphony No.2 and Elgar's Cello Concerto with soloist Pablo Ferrández - Cellist, who made his BBC Proms debut.

You can listen back to this richly expressive music from the 20th century on BBC Sounds, and see photos and reactions from the evening in our latest blog: www.rpo.co.uk/stories/photos-and-reactions-the-rpos-sell-out-bbc-prom

Pablo Ferrández will be joining us again on stage at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday 23 September for our 80th anniversary celebration, playing Beethoven's Triple Concerto alongside Julia Fischer and Jan Lisiecki.
