Happy equinox friends!

Ever since moving to the southern hemisphere, I feel a little bit disconnected from the seasons that most of my friends are experiencing.

But the equinox is special because, no matter where you are, the day and night hours are almost the same. For that brief moment in time, we cross over, and experience the same day ✨

Visited Taronga Zoo the other week and had my first encounter with this cutie capybara.

It’s been so long since I’ve drawn that I forgot where my eraser is, but it’s kinda cool cz you can see my process. Even though I draw with pen, I want to make sure he still appears 3D, so I add the base shapes and proportions in pencil, before going over with pen.

I used to draw all the detail in pencil first (it’s how I learned) but I got addicted to perfectionism, so now I leave the detail to my brush pen and let it have a mind of its own.

What’s everyone else’s favourite process when they draw?

More often than not, I think of an idea or something I want to draw, and it stays in my head until I do it.

Sometimes I act on it (this picture was one of them) and sometimes I don’t. The problem with the ideas that I don’t do, is that they sit there, taking up precious space in my mind for months… even years.

Simultaneously I also get migraines a lot, so I’m wondering if this is related 🤔 ideas are beautiful things, and maybe they stay with us until we release them into art, to share with the world.

Has anyone else been holding onto their ideas for too long without actioning them? (And do you get migraines too?)

It’s the autumn equinox (in the southern hemisphere) today. I started posting art vs artist collages to see how my art changed with the seasons. This is been a quiet few months with a total of 1 drawing!
