Meet the legends from The Legends of Them ✨
First up it’s Sutara's older sister, Cherry Groce.
Cherry was an inspiration to Sutara, teaching her about her roots and her Jamaican heritage. In 1985 Cherry was shot in her bedroom by the police in front of her young son. The shooting sparked the 1985 Brixton Uprising and it took 3 decades for the police to acknowledge the wrongful shooting.
Cherry's home became a sanctuary for Sutara as a teenager and her house was filled with music, from Sam Cooke, Patti Labelle and James Brown to Bob Marley and Marcia Griffiths.
Stay tuned to find out more about the legends in The Legends of Them, dropping this week on our Instagram... 🎬
