It’s Day One of our Open Submissions Festival!

This evening’s reading is Aunties in the USSR by Rebecca Banatvala.

Directed by Mayaan Haputantri, with Rina Fatania and Nina Wadia.

Open Submissions Festival is a week-long event taking place twice a year, presenting a selection of the most exciting work we have received as staged readings in our Theatre Upstairs - offering audiences a first look at the future of contemporary theatre.

Nearly 40 years after the original production, the creative team behind Man to Man reunite to revisit the making, memories and legacy of the play.

And tonight, a new chapter begins.

Emteaz’s story has been collected as part of our 70th Anniversary project - bringing together stories from people whose lives have crossed paths with the Royal Court over the last 70 years.

From chance encounters to lifelong connections, the Court has been part of so many stories.

The full series and exhibition will be revealed in November.

At a former plantation now converted into an Airbnb, a pregnant Black woman communes with her ancestors, seeking answers to the questions she's afraid to ask anyone else. Set between 1862 and the present day, Blood of my Blood is directed by Tatenda Shamiso (A Good House and No I.D.).
