Jazzlive At The Crypt 🎷
Friday 11th September - ANNA CHAI QUARTET

Anna Chai – saxophones/flute, Charlie Axl Tebbutt – electric bass, Ashley Blasse – guitars, Demi García Sabat – drum kit/percussion

The project addresses a yearning for unmasked, fully present music that amalgamates elements of the sounds Anna most connects with. The cross rhythms and expressive interpretations of melodies in Flamenco, rhythmic cycles heard on the tabla in Indian classical music; American hard bop and modal jazz, all feed into a largely experimental approach across compositions, arrangements and improvised elements.

Expect to pass moments of reflection, curiosity, excitement, movement and pain in the most authentic way. Some of her biggest influences include Charles Lloyd, Wayne Shorter, Jorge Pardo, Carles Benavent

Friday 4th September - GUILLERMO HILL ACOUSTIC QUARTET
.ticino
Guillermo Hill's Acoustic Quartet brings a fresh and innovative approach to latin instrumental music, with groovy rhythms and contemporary harmonies rooted back in South America, but extensively developed in the UK over the years.

Guille is originally from Uruguay, a small country and a melting pot of Brazilian, Hispano American, European and African cultures, which are always present in his original compositions.

He is joined by Steve Lodder from the UK on piano, Nando DeMarco from Brazil on bass, and Andres Ticino from Uruguay on percussion.
