Pensavo che avresti toccato il cielo.
Io ho sentito
e mi è venuto in mente l'inverno,
riscaldava i miei sogni.
lontano dai campi caldi d'estate,
dove le cicale oziavano come d'abitudine.
Pensavo che il tuo profumo avrebbe inebriato
chi ti stava accanto.
Io ho sentito.

Sulle mie spalle dormono inquietamente

I thought you would touch the sky.
I listened,
and I remembered my long journey,
quiet as the breath of a newborn.
I was searching for a better version of myself.
The yellow balloon slipped from my hands.
I watched it kiss a cloud.
I thought your colours would be brighter.
I remained silent,
and the long winter came back to me,
the only witness to my endless nights
inside a dark room where the air smelled stale.
The fire, drawn upon the wall,
kept my dreams warm.
I thought you would be the most beautiful flower in my garden.
I lowered my eyes,
and I could still feel upon my skin
the icy wind that hurled me through the city,
far from the warm fields of summer,
where the cicadas lazed as they always did.
I thought your fragrance would intoxicate
those who stood beside you.
I listened.
I took refuge in the darkness of my thoughts
and wept in silence.

You still see me through the eyes of your imagination,
unaware of the weight I carry.
Upon my shoulders sleep restlessly
words of courage;
I keep them like precious stones,
shining only for my

During August, my photograph Dream will be exhibited at the Horton as part of the Transformation exhibition. It is truly an honour to be part of an exhibition where many local artists explore the theme of transformation, each producing a unique and diverse interpretation. I look forward to seeing you there.

The Sea and I is a very intimate poem and photograph about my relationship with this force of nature. To, the water is a call to motherly love.
