Stage One New Producers

Stage One New Producers Stage One is a charity dedicated to supporting new producers and productions in order to sustain the future of quality commercial theatre in the UK.

Stage One's educational programme includes Bursaries, an apprentice scheme and a start up fund. The Bursaries for New Producers scheme provides financial and practical assistance to new theatre producers with a view to furthering their careers. The scheme aims to facilitate and encourage the development of the next generation of commercial theatre producers. The apprentice scheme offers candidates

two 6 month paid placements, and has just been extended into the subsidised sector, so some will have the opportunity of a placement in the commericial and subsidised sectors. The Start-Up Fund is an investment scheme that aims to kick-start the careers of outstanding new commercial theatre producers by awarding them £25,000 investment into a West End or Commercial Touring Production. The Fund is supported by individuals, trusts and businesses that care about the future of commercial theatre.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of producer Robert Fox, renowned for his exceptional contributions to theatre, film, and television. Many of our producers have learned from his leadership and example over the years.

Robert’s generosity as a mentor on our bursary programme, and the expertise he shared, has shaped and inspired countless Stage One producers. His influence will continue to be felt in the work of those he supported and encouraged.

He will be greatly missed.

West End theatres are to dim their lights in memory of producer Robert Fox, who died aged 73 on 20th March
