THE TABLE a new play written by Aisha Zia. A version for Platforma Festival directed by Suba Das, with Musical Direction by Rob Green and Movement Direction by Miguel Hernando Torres Umba.

What does it take to become a refugee, migrant, or asylum seeker today?

Developed from real interviews with first-generation economic and war migrants in Bournemouth and Peterborough, this bold new play is made to change. Every production of The Table is uniquely put together by each performance company using 40 scenes written by Scotsman Fringe First & Amnesty International Award-winning playwright, Peterborough-born Aisha Zia, and based on three years of research with migrant communities across the UK.

Following a sell-out debut at London’s Arcola Theatre in 2024, Cutting the Tightrope dives into the ever-tightening grip of censorship on artistic freedom. Created in response to silence around Palestine on UK stages, this collection of political plays arrives at the International Festival with a fresh wave of urgency.

In Summer 2024, the brilliantly bold Not Too Tame returned to Shakespeare North with an electrifying production of Twelfth Night, starring Les Dennis! 🎸

Set against the wild background of the music industry, Shakespeare’s comedy of mistaken identities got an injection of riffs, ruffs and riotous partying... The stage was set, the music pumped, and love was the ultimate headliner!
