The Trafalgar is now part of our CityStack London Pub Collection, alongside 80+ fantastic independent pubs across London! 🙌 You can now enjoy £10 off your bill with our Special B**r Mat!

This tiny Wimbledon pub has been around since at least 1868, when the area was known as "the Rockery" because of its overcrowded, run down and unsanitary housing. Back in the early 1900s, the Trafalgar attracted a very different crowd from the one it does today. It was known for a "rough" clientele and earned the nickname "Threepenny Hop", as men working on the nearby Merton Abbey railway line would hop over the station fence for a pint! Covid hit this community hub hard, forcing it to close in 2021. In 2023, passionate publican Oli, whose family had been regulars for years, rolled up their sleeves and took it over to give the locals their beloved pub back. The place was carefully refurbished while respecting the pub's essence for the most dedicated pub purists. No modern décor here! Expect old school hanging lamps, wooden furniture, numerous b**r mats covering the ceiling, and... pictures of ships from the Battle of Trafalgar, (of course!).

The Woodpecker is now part of our CityStack London Pub Collection, alongside 80+ fantastic independent pubs across London! 🙌 You can now enjoy £10 off your bill with our Special B**r Mat!

Dating back to 1840, this building has worn many hats. It was once the Original Woodman, then became the much-loved French 1930s jazz w**e bar Le QuecumBar (pronounced "cucumber"), followed by a Louisiana Lounge and Creole kitchen with live music. In 2025, it came full circle when Michelle, her husband Jason, and daughter Izzie lovingly brought it back to life as a pub, after a six month refurbishment. Running pubs is nothing new for the family as they also own the Raven in Tower bridge, and judging by both venues, they clearly have a soft spot for birds. Just as the Raven has a watchful taxidermy raven, the Woodpecker proudly displays a taxidermy woodpecker above the bar. If you're lucky, you might even spot the resident pigeons dozing on the roof, proof that even the local birds approve of the place!

The Captain Cook Pub and Rooms is now part of our CityStack London Pub Collection, alongside 80+ fantastic independent pubs across London! 🙌 You can now enjoy £10 off your bill with our Special B**r Mat!

First opened in 1883 as the Wilton Arms, this pub has stood on Dawes Road ever since and witnessed the rapid growth of the area during the Victorian period, as London’s railway network expanded and housing was built for workers and middle class.
After closing in 2013, it reopened as the Captain Cook, named after James Cook, a tribute to the then landlords’ New Zealand origins. You can still spot the love for discovery and travel, with a large planisphere covering an entire wall, an imposing rudder beside the bar, and a portrait of Cook watching over guests as they unwind after a day of work or laugh with friends.
The current landlady, affable Susie, has fully embraced this exploratory mindset, which she carries effortlessly given her Spanish roots. Expect Spanish touches with tapas, sangria and regular flamenco shows. Looking for something more traditional? Fear not, the Sunday roast is considered one of the best in Fulham, so the team won’t let you down.

This brick-built pub has long been part of the Peckham landscape, witnessing generations of local life, with names alternating between the Clayton Arms and the Dolls House. After 2 years of closure, the venue was revived in May 2017 as the Prince of Peckham by Clement, a community-driven publican determined to create a welcoming space for everyone. Why this moniker? It is inspired by Lee “The Peckham Prince” Stanley, a character from the 1990s TV show Desmond's, which depicted a welcoming neighbourhood barbershop, a “home from home” for people from all walks of life. Does this remind you of something? To us, yes!

The Hollydale, one of the 80+ independent pubs that are part of the CityStack London Pub Independent Collection. 👀

Opened as a pub in 1878, the Hollydale has long been part of the neighbourhood and has witnessed Peckham’s evolution over time. Like many pubs, the building was closed in 2019, and part of it was transformed into apartments. It remained shuttered for a while but when Richard, a passionate hospitality professional, visited the then boarded-up establishment for the first time in 2021, he saw the potential and began an impressive refurbishment. After years of hard work, planning, and investment, the place finally reopened in 2024 and you can tell the blood, sweat, and tears poured into this treasure have been worth it: today, the Hollydale welcomes you into a bright, modern, minimalist space, complete with a beautiful wooden bar. At the Hollydale, it’s all about community and local pride. Out in the b**r garden, a colourful mural for El Rayo — a tequila with Peckham roots — sets the scene. Inside, you’ll spot painted birds by local artist Fran Giffard, adding charm to every corner.

The White Horse , one of the 80+ independent pubs that are part of the CityStack London Pub Independent Collection. 👀

With its Tudor-style exterior, striped with black timber, it is hard to miss the longevity of this much-loved Peckham gathering hub, which was first registered in the 1780s. Step inside and you will be charmed by the traditional features, from wooden panelling and stained-glass windows to plush leather seats, perfectly paired with contemporary memorabilia, such as the disco ball proudly hanging at the back of the establishment, which gives you a hint at a major draw for locals and newcomers alike: the popular DJ sets.
You can tell a pub is a proper community centre when 30 to 40 regulars have been gathering there every Friday afternoon for over 40 years, and the White Horse is no exception. Throw in the pool table, and you have the full recipe for a proper pub, just the way we love them!
