📢 PaulCocksedge appointed Designer of the Year 2027

British designer, artist and explorer PAUL COCKSEDGE is celebrated for a practice that bridges art, sculpture, architecture and immersive experiences, using materials, science and experimentation to reshape our perception of the world around us.

Curiosity is at the heart of his work, making him a natural ambassador for Sensory Shift, the inspiration theme for Maison&Objet Premier, inviting us to slow down, shift our perspective and reconnect with the world around us.

For the occasion, Cocksedge presents Tension: a suspended installation where water, ice, time and movement become part of the experience.

A moment to pause.
A work in transformation.
A new perspective on design.

📍 Discover Tension, Paul Cocksedge’s exclusive scenography at Maison&Objet Premier, 14–18 January 2027.

In Blue Weather, Vincent Dubourg explores how objects can shape our experience of space, creating a dialogue between the body, its surroundings and the forms within them.

Material is at the heart of the exhibition. Working with bronze and steel, Dubourg transforms heavy, powerful materials into forms that seem to move and shift, holding a sense of energy within their solid structures.

For Dubourg, each work becomes a way to express sensation, observation and different ways of living. Across the exhibition, weight meets movement, and strength gives way to something more fluid and unexpected.

Opening soon | Flights of Fancy | Gareth Mason

Flights of Fancy brings together seven new works by Gareth Mason, extending his singular approach to the ceramic palette. The exhibition will be presented in a new gallery space in our garden.

Molded and punctured porcelain, rugged stoneware, liquid glazes and thermally transformed granite converge through wheel-throwing, free-form construction and multiple firings. Across the works, completion remains deliberately unresolved: firing is treated as a provisional act, leaving the work open to intervention and change.

At the heart of Mason’s practice is the concept of flux — a state of continual transformation that echoes the geological forces from which his materials emerge, reimagined here at a human scale.

Introducing our new identity: Carpenters.

Coinciding with our 20th anniversary, this evolution reflects both where we have come from and where we are going. It is grounded in our heritage, centred on our artists, and guided by our belief in Living Through Art.

While our identity is evolving, what lies at the heart of Carpenters remains unchanged: our commitment to our artists, to artistic excellence, and to creating opportunities for art to be lived with, experienced and shared.

Now Open | Blue Weather | Vincent Dubourg

Blue Weather presents a new body of sculptural work by Vincent Dubourg, continuing his exploration of architecture, symbolism and everyday life. Working across bronze, wood and aluminium, Dubourg brings together forms that play with mass, geometry and balance.

Bronze takes a central role in the new works. Cast from molten metal and gradually refined, the material retains traces of the casting process beneath its polished surfaces. The resulting forms combine a sense of weight and solidity with a more controlled, considered finish.

Colour forms an important part of the exhibition, with deep cobalt blue and luminous yellow adding contrast to the works.

Now Open | | Beyond the Vessel | František Vízner

Beyond the Vessel brings together works by František Vízner, exploring his enduring focus on the vessel. Working from solid blocks and cutting into the material, Vízner established each form through a process that allowed him to work closely with proportion, depth and surface.

Across his career, VĂzner returned to these forms through changes in colour and finish, from vivid tones in rich blues, greens, reds and purples to the dense black surfaces of his later work. Rather than constantly moving on to new directions, he remained committed to refining the vessel, exploring how much could be found within a single form over time.

For VĂzner, this commitment became a way of working rather than a limitation. Measured changes in proportion, colour and material allowed him to keep developing the same essential idea throughout his career.

Arboretum, Thukral and Tagra’s first solo exhibition in the UK, brings together a new body of brass sculptures and oil paintings, exploring brass as both a material and a means of holding memory.

The works stem from the artists’ recent journey to a temple in South India, where they encountered the tamarind tree as a site of stillness and devotion. This experience informs a series of highly detailed oil paintings, reflecting on the memory of sitting beneath the tree through a meticulous and meditative painting process.

Alongside the paintings, a series of brass sculptures combines industrial bending with hand-painted surfaces. Developed between the foundry and the artists’ studio, each work is individually shaped and painted with imagery drawn from trees.
