Welcome to a new series - Lost Vinyl Mixtapes! 💜
These sets were of me practising mixing my records, and recording them to tapes.
I started mixing in 1999, and like a lot of DJs I liked to experiment with all kinds of dance music.
Everything from house, hard house, trance, progressive, DnB, 4 to the floor garage, soulful house etc!
The way I taught myself was by playing, listening and learning. I would tape everything.
When I give a beginner DJ advice, I always say to record everything - listen back and practise practise practise!
Here are some of my sets, this first one was from 2002 - an old skool garage set.
It was on one side of a TDK tape, so it's 45 mins or thereabouts. There is a DnB set on it's way so look out for that.
Things to note - it's not a digital set - the sound quality isn't great, there's noise and it's not a perfect mix, you will hear the sound of the vinyl, but you will love the memories.
