Rooted in the landscape of Hönö, Emelie Abrahamsson’s vessels combine locally gathered pigments with a newly developed warm stoneware clay body. Through the use of egg tempera, she achieves delicate tonal variations that allow the natural character of the clay to remain present. The result is a collection of quietly sculptural forms whose surfaces shift gently with the light, revealing a deep sensitivity to material and place.
Large yet softly composed, the sculptural forms balance volume and restraint, their rounded silhouettes carrying a quiet sense of movement and presence. Dramatically raising from their narrow bases, the voluminous nature of the forms hold deliberate indentations that interrupt their symmetry, introducing subtle wave like movement that animates without disturbing composure.
