September is here, the air is getting crisper, and we are swapping our Summer gear for big scarves and comfy hoodies! What better way to spend a Sunday Autumn afternoon than wrapping up warm and making weird, colourful prints?
We’re back at Turf Projects in Croydon on Sunday 20th September with two ways to get your Riso on:
INDUCTION (beginners) = 12pm–3pm
Learn the basics, design your print, and get printing!
OPEN ACCESS (previous attendees) = 1-hour slots between 11.30am–3.30pm
Come along, bring a project, and get printing independently.

Celebrating Zine Mela’s final week at Turf

Your ticket includes a copy of the finished zine

Zine Mela has been open all of July, and as it draws to a close we want to celebrate and document it’s Croydon iteration by creating a collaborative zine. Whether you have spent time visiting .Mela, or this will be your first trip, we want your reflections and reactions from Hamja’s collection.
We’ll spend the first hour reading, browsing, sharing and discussing the books, flyers, posters, cassettes and pamphlets that make up Zine Mela.
Every participant will get a copy of the group zine when it is printed.
Tickets are £10 with options for added solidarity donations. If you are financially struggling or unwaged, write to us: dsflprintcollective@gmail with “ZINE MELA RISO workshop” in your subject header.

Celebrating Zine Mela’s final week at Turf

Zine Mela has been open all of July, and as it draws to a close we want to celebrate and document it’s Croydon iteration by creating a collaborative zine. Whether you have spent time visiting .Mela, or this will be your first trip, we want your reflections and reactions from Hamja’s collection.

OPEN ACCESS RISO PRINTING @ Turf, Croydon

July is Open Access month! Book a 1hr slot between 11am-5pm and come print with us.

This one’s for anyone who’s riso’d before (with us or elsewhere) – if you’re new to riso, keep an eye out for our induction sessions next month instead, or drop us a message.

Good to know before you book:
-Come with your file ready to go (or arrive early and finish it in the space).
-A facilitator will be on hand to help with setup + troubleshooting.
-Your ticket 🎟️ = your time slot + 1 master stencil (1 colour, 1 side – 10x A3 or 20x A4)
-Tickets can be split between 1-2 people working on the same print.
-Bring cash if you need extra masters or extra paper – details in the listing.
-Just want to watch/hang out? No need to book, just show up!

We’re so excited to announce our collaboration with Zine Mela! 🌟 .mela 
Join us at Turf Projects on July 5th, 1–4pm for a hands-on RISO Print Induction workshop — open to total beginners and experienced printmakers alike. Together we’ll dive into the vibrant, beautifully imperfect world of RISO printing, and explore the idea of Fantasy Zine Fairs as a form of speculative activism.
Where in the world should the next zine fair be? Who’s still being left out of art and cultural spaces? How can printmaking help build new communities and imagine a better world? Come with your ideas — and experiment with them on paper. 🖨️✊
We’re joined by Hamja Ahsan, curator of the Zine Mela exhibition and part of the Documenta 15/Lumbung Zine Collective. With over 30 years in zine culture — including curating DIY Cultures festival and authoring the cult speculative fiction book Shy Radicals — Hamja will take us on a guided tour of RISO printing across South Asia and share their vision for the evolving landscape of zine fairs in the UK and beyond.
This workshop is part of Zine Mela’s public programme — South Asian Journeys in DIY Cultures — running at Turf Projects from 3rd–30th July 2026. 🎉
