Tick Tock Music Islington Weekly music classes for under 5's in Islington - music, rhymes, fun and lots of participation. We encourage the children to join in with appropriate actions.

Mondays: 9.45 and 10.45 at St Stephens Church Hall
Tuesdays: 9.45 and 10:45 at St Stephens Church Hall
AND
Fridays: 9.45 and 10.45 at St Mary's Neighbourhood Centre, N1

In a typical Tick Tock session the children and their carers will sit in a circle and sing nursery rhymes and action songs to the accompaniment of a keyboard and a guitar. We sing a selection of rhymes and songs both old and new, with a different programme each week. Over the years, we have collected songs and indeed, written our own, resulting in a repetoire of over 300 songs for children! A relationship builds week by week between Tick Tock staff and the children and carers, with most staying in the group for 2-3 years. One characteristic of Tick Tock is our welcome song. Every child's name is sung, making each one feel special as an individual within the group. At the end of the session we stand and sing songs that combine both music and movement. Each child is given a percussion instrument to play in time to the music, with the help of their carer. We finish up with juice and biscuits and tea or coffee. Throughout the Tick Tock year there are themed events - farm animals, colour songs, number recognition and counting songs etc. There are various gifts such as mince pies, hot cross buns and sunglasses distributed during the year, as well as a visit from the Tick Tock Teddy. We also celebrate the children's birthdays with cards and each term builds up to a celebration. At Christmas we perform Christmas songs leading up to the entrance of Santa with a sack of presents - one for each child, with prizes given for best costume. At Easter the theme is Spring, rabbits and eggs, concluding with the Easter bunny who gives out eggs to each child. Children and carers are encouraged to make and wear an Easter bonnet with prizes again for best costumes. In the Summer each child comes dressed in a summery theme and every child is given a windmill.
