Tait Memorial Trust

Tait Memorial Trust Proudly supporting young performing artists from Australia & New Zealand in the UK. Founded in 1992. The Tait Trust is now in Australia!

The Tait Memorial Trust (UK Charity 1042797) was formed in 1992 by Isla Baring OAM in memory of Sir Frank and Viola, Lady Tait and the Tait brothers who played such an important part in the establishment of theatre and the performing arts in Australia and New Zealand. The Trust offers awards/grants for postgraduate study, performance opportunities to young musicians and performing artists from Australia and New Zealand, and general help in the furtherance of their careers while resident in the UK. To ensure its continuance the Trust arranges regular fund raising events and concerts, invariably featuring the talented young winners of the various awards, and relies a great deal on financial support from the business sector, private donors and other loyal supporters. Tait Performing Arts Association Incorporated, (No A0054444J) will be able to take donation in Aussie dollars to help support Australian musicians during their studies in the UK.

We delighted to share the announcement of this new recording by Tait Awardee Lotte Betts Dean and Australian pianist/composer Joseph Havlat. The Tait’s support of the album was funded solely by Tait donor, Eugénie White. Congratulations Lotte & Joseph 👏👏👏Repost App • Lotte Betts-Dean We are so proud to announce KIN — coming to Delphian Records on September 25.
this is our (Lotte & Jo) first duo album, and has been a dream project for a long time. KIN explores the international folksong tradition as a living, evolving art: melodies and stories passed between generations, reshaped by memory, place and imagination. Alongside now canonic arrangements by Britten, Bartók, Canteloube and Grainger and rarities by E.J. Moeran and Doreen Senior, new commissions from Josephine Stephenson Isabella Gellis Louise Drewett and Joseph Havlat bring fresh perspectives to this shared inheritance of song. Folk music has always been a mutual ***obsession*** of ours and we are so excited to share these tunes with you in the autumn.
Huge thanks go to Paul Baxter and the entire Delphian team especially and , Will Coates-Gibson / foxbrush_films (lovely videos to come!), Isabella Gellis for shooting the cover on film (!!) TaitMemorialTrust for supporting this recording, Michael Finnissy for penning our beautiful liner notes, and all the venues that have cradled this idea so far — especially Norfolk & Norwich Festival, where it was born in 2021.
for those wondering, the cover location is the dolmen to the ancient burial site known as “The Devil’s Den” in Wiltshire

Tait Awardee Yasmin Hass’ new single “Bedroom Floor” is out this Friday and she really needs your help! She has just completed her first year at

As an independent artist, she needs to get 200+ pre-saves on Spotify to have a chance at being playlisted - Yasmin is so close to her target, so every save makes the biggest difference.

Could you please pre-save it on Spotify (30 seconds, link below and in bio) and forward this to a few friends who might do the same? It would mean the world.

Thank you so much!! 💓💓

Congratulations on the launch of this exciting initiative for Australian creatives in the United Kingdom. We at the Tait are right behind it and wish it every success. It was wonderful to have the support of the Governor General who made a special effort to be there at the launch Advance Australia Fair 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 Get • While in London, the Governor-General joined the Australian High Commission for the launch of a new network supporting Australian artists and creatives in the UK.

Australia House Creatives was launched by High Commissioner Jay Weatherill at Stoke Lodge, bringing together Australian musicians, visual artists, performers, comedians, writers, actors and designers.

A huge congratulations to Liberty Fergus, who has secured a place with the Junior Ballet de l’Opéra national de Paris.
Liberty has spent the past two seasons with the NRW Juniorballett at Ballett Dortmund, following her training at The Royal Ballet School.
We are especially proud of Liberty as the inaugural recipient of the Tait Memorial Trust’s Richard Bonynge Award. The award supported her studies at The Royal Ballet School, with personal support from Maestro Richard Bonynge.
This is a major achievement and richly deserved. We have loved following Liberty’s progress and look forward to seeing this outstanding young Australian dancer take her next step in Paris.
Congratulations, Liberty. Everyone at the Tait Memorial Trust is enormously proud of you.

We are deeply saddened by the death of Sir Sam Neill KNZM OBE, one of New Zealand’s most loved and distinguished actors.

Across a career spanning more than five decades, he brought intelligence, warmth, humour and quiet authority to every role. From My Brilliant Career and The Piano to Jurassic Park and Hunt for the Red October, his work crossed borders and generations, while always retaining his distinctive voice and humanity.

For artists from Australia and New Zealand, Sam Neill showed how a performer from our part of the world could build an extraordinary international career without losing his character, humour or sense of home. He held a special place on both sides of the Tasman and in the hearts of audiences far beyond.

Behind the famous roles was a man remembered for his generosity, curiosity, wit and kindness. His performances often felt effortless, yet each carried truth, depth and an instinctive understanding of people.

The Tait Memorial Trust joins the arts community across Australia, New Zealand and around the world in mourning his loss. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and all who loved him.

Vale Sam Neill.
