✨ We're on the lookout for new members! ✨

Diversity Choir is an auditioned LGBTQ+ choir in London, rehearsing on Wednesday evenings in Holborn. Our first rehearsal of the new season will be on the 9th September.

Anyone who's interested is very welcome to come along to a trial rehearsal or two to see how we run, and if you like what we do, you can audition after one of the rehearsals. We're looking for a couple of new singers for each section: soprano, alto, tenor and bass.

We pride ourselves on singing a wide variety of genres - recently we've sung baroque madrigals, songs from the musicals Cabaret and Chicago, and popular songs in Flemish and French. We participate in choir festivals across the UK and Europe, and this year sang Mahler's 2nd symphony with West London Sinfonia.

Our wonderful Music Director Jan Rautio is leaving us after more than ten years - he will be sorely missed!

Jan's expert leadership, musicality and good humour have brought so much to the choir, and we are endlessly grateful for all the time and energy he has given us.

Some highlights of his time with us have included travels to Brussels, Bologna and Munich for the Various Voices festival, and Manchester, Cardiff, Brighton and Bristol for Hand in Hand. We've done performances in amazing venues like Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, and Evensong at St Paul's Cathedral. We've sung in French, German, Italian, Ukrainian and Japanese, with pieces from Baroque opera to Berlin cabaret, pop and musical theatre, thanks to Jan's breadth and depth of musical interests.

We've collaborated with the West London Sinfonia to perform Verdi's Requiem and Mahler's 2nd Symphony, and with countless vocal soloists and instrumentalists.

We won't forget performing Jan's own amazing composition "Gloria", the challenges of Poulenc's Gloria or C.P.E. Bach's Magnificat, or the beautiful Mozart C Minor Mass. His wonderful arrangements of songs from "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" to Mendelssohn's "Hear My Prayer" will live on in our repertoire and memories.

We want to wish Jan all the very best for the future - and say a huge THANK YOU for the music! 🌈

Last month we had the pleasure of singing at Lincoln's Inn Pride Celebration Dinner - thank you The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn for having us! The event was great fun, and the Inn was a beautiful setting to sing in 🌈

Happy Pride to everyone going to London Pride today! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

We hope you enjoy the sunshine and celebrating everyone and everything LGBTQ+ 🌞 we are proud to be a choir of le***an, gay, bi and trans people and it's always a privilege to sing with each other and for our lovely audiences 😊

Our hearts go out to James and Simon, two fellow singers from Barberfellas and Pink Singers who were at the Various Voices festival with us in Brussels last week.

We were so sorry to hear they were attacked in the street when going back to their hotel - it's a horrific reminder of why we need pride. Pride is a protest, and we mustn't forget this. Homophobic, biphobic and transphobic hate crime still happens.

James and Simon have responded to the attack with huge courage and resilience, saying they've decided to be twice as q***r, to stand up to homophobia. We stand with them! 🌈

Heading to Various Voices Choir Festival in Brussels? You can catch our main concert on Saturday (27th June) at 2:35pm in the beautiful Bozar, Henry Le Boeuf Hall, and our street concert also on Saturday at 12pm at the Mont des Arts, Upper Stairs. Hope to see you there!
