Graeae Theatre Company Graeae is a force for change in world-class theatre, breaking down barriers.

Accessibility is at our core; we progressively define, evolve and redefine the ways in which signing, audio description, sound, light and film can inform our artistic palette.

Welcome to the Wedding Fayre!

We're so excited to announce our brand-new folk-punk musical about love, belonging and what happens when the state decides who belongs… touring February – March 2027.

Co-produced with Derby Theatre, our show is packed with rebellion, razor-sharp humour and rousing songs.

Not married yet?
Don't feel the need to get hitched?
Don't believe in it?
You might not have a choice...

In this darkly humoured vision of a near future, the authorities have declared that any adult who does not conform to the newly minted English standards of 'normal' must be married to somebody who does, by midnight tonight. Or else.

From the writer of Graeae's hit show Reasons to be Cheerful, Paul Sirett, original score by Max Runham, and directed by Graeae Artistic Director Jenny Sealey, with musical direction by Joey Hickman.

All shows will integrate British Sign Language (BSL), audio description and creative captions.

AD consultant, Chris Campion has put together a brilliant audio tour of Graeae’s building.

“Having this ahead of time means that I can really understand what I’m walking into and gives me the kind of independence and ability to work by my own rules.”

Check it out at the below link.

We’re thrilled to be part of Totally Thames 2026 Festival with Turning the Tide. A free public installation by Turner Prize-nominated artist Catherine Yass, created with Graeae's Young Company.

For four nights only from 17–20 September, a visual and captivating installation will be projected onto the iconic Blackfriars Railway Bridge columns celebrating young disabled actors.

THANK YOU!

We have been running our Access to Work campaign since January and would like to share some reflections:

We are hugely grateful that we’ve had the opportunity to engage with 1000s of people over this period; we cannot thank you enough for sharing how Access to Work has impacted you and your work.

We have used your engagement to:

• Challenge the DWP systems and know that our response to the Public Enquiry was fuelled by the lived experiences of our community

• Champion our community’s voices and share their stories and creative responses

• Create positive resources related to the changes to Access to Work application and claims process

We will continue this fight for as long as it takes, we know it’s not over.

Please check out our website for news articles about individuals who are also facing Access to Work cuts and share them far and wide.
