I've been looking at so many black-and-white archival images that I've started to use black-and-white mode as my main mode. I'm on the bus (they've been blasting sega music) and heading back to our apartment now.

Our time in Mauritius is coming to an end, and I've learned so much more about my identity, Mauritius, what's important, and what makes me happy.

Random photos today! I need to catch up on image descriptions.

My days are tiring, whether I'm working on the archives or going to the market. I used to be full of energy, and I miss those days, but since my Hashimoto diagnosis in Mauritius, I've been listening to my body more.

I should get to sleep now! I hope I can share some videos with you tomorrow x

We arrived very late at the museum, but I managed to snap these models. They are pretty great, and they remind me of Mauritius from not so long ago.

Pointe des Lascars has a stunning Hindu Spiritual Park located right where the river meets the sea. I wish I took more photos!

I have been through multiple stages to find my ancestors; currently, I'm at the investigation office in Port Louis, waiting for the team to find 5 ancestors. If we get the names, we can then go to another department to find more birth certificates and then get the immigration numbers. Once we pay them with stamps (yes, stamps), we can drive over to MGI (Mahatma Gandhi Institute) to submit the numbers; it takes approx 2 weeks for the team search for information the ancestors journey from India. Then we will have to submit the numbers via email to request our ancestors' photo ID.

It's been 29 years since my father passed away. I was 13, and I can still close my eyes and be back there.

I only had a short time with him, but his love of photography and the archives lives on in me.

If you want to know what family means — it's the love they give you. Thank you Dad!

We found this book today and discovered an error! I questioned the date. This book was published in 2007, likely with a typo. We established our collective name with the year we believe Indentureship was first introduced in Mauritius, which then spread to numerous countries around the world.

This has been our third home over the past two weeks! Digging through the archives and doing lots of juggling until our time runs out.

I’ve added some more photos from my time here, along with a few "boring" videos.
