There was no Portico - no Mambista at Portico - for 18 months. But we’re back on

September 3rd as The Portico reopens its welcoming doors.

And there is no better way to celebrate the re-opening of The Portico, and Mambista’s return to the fold, than in the company of the uplifting, inclusive, funked-up afrobeats, reggae riddims, dubwise and jazzadelica of Soothsayers.

Come down and check out the newly re-fashioned space – lockdown was put to good use!

Portico decided to use the ‘downtime’ to make some changes to the interior and is now ready to be unveiled.

Due to general uncertainty we have not made plans too far ahead, for obvious reasons, so for now, September 3 is a one-off … but (and?), watch out for our third and final Mambista in the Park for 2021 on Sunday

Covid Policy

We want everyone to attend The Portico feeling safe, relaxed and ready to enjoy being in the company of other people again.

All atendees will need to show one of the following upon arrival:

- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination. (Both doses given at least two weeks prior to the event)
OR
- Proof of negative Covid-19 lateral flow test carried out at home within 48hours before the event.
OR
-Proof of natural immunity based on a Positive PCR test taken within 180 days of the event. (excluding 10 days self isolation period)

Our resident choir are having a FREE taster session on Thursday this week. Come along, spread the word, share the love and see why singing is so addictive, good for your health and good for the soul too!

Come in down the side alley for 7.30 - everyone welcome!

As well as our usual Thursday sessions, we'll be running a free (yes, free!) taster session on Thursday 28 February, 7.30pm at Portico Gallery. If you're not sure, or just want to give it a go without it costing you anything, this is the night for you!
