Un ballo in maschera may have taken its final bow, but we couldn’t resist sitting down with Michael Papadopoulos , our conductor for the ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ production, who takes us inside one of Verdi’s greatest love duets, straight from the piano. Amelia and Gustavo can never be together, and Verdi turns that impossible love into an unbearable yet completely beautiful tension.

Artists like Michael are a rare find, his passion for the music every bit as strong as the passion within it. This one’s worth watching right through to the final chord.
