‘Ladies Day’
The third day of Royal Ascot is known informally as ‘Ladies Day’ since the early nineteenth century. ‘Ladies Day’ is now known as the day Ladies dress to impress with fabulous hats and dresses. The dress code for the Royal Enclosure is formal and enforced with rule breakers being asked to leave. The dress code began in the Regency era by Beau Brummell (1778 – 1840) a fashion diva and close friend of the Prince Regent.
