Zebra One Gallery – The History:
Zebra One Gallery first opened its doors as an art gallery and framers in 1976. Directed by Lee Brews in the laid back suburb of Hampstead in London, Zebra One Gallery became popular with the high profile residents who lived there. Actors, writers and pol

iticians were captivated by the quirky gallery’s bohemian ambiance, as well as the magnificent art on sale. During the late 70’s and early 80’s the gallery became renowned as the prime purveyor of Henry Moore, Matisse and Picasso rarities. Housing a hugely varied selection from Old Master to David Hockney, to Man Ray and Bob Carlos Clarke, Zebra One Gallery provided art to a select group of international clients as well as the local Hampstead community. Clients included: Dudley Moore, Peter Cook, Michael Foot, Jill Craigie and Anthony Minghella. In 2011 Lee Brews daughter, Gabrielle du Plooy, took over the helm of Zebra One, maintaining the same ethos and style but building the client base. This now includes well-known creative personalities such as Ricky Gervais, Bill Nighy, Liam Gallagher and Prodigy’s Liam Howlett. Under Gabrielle’s guidance Zebra One has become one of the leading galleries in London dealing primarily in; Horst p Horst, Helmut Newton, Man Ray and Sir Peter Blake to name a few. Collaborative projects to date include Claridge’s, Houses of Parliament, Ralph Lauren Showrooms, Selfridges, The Savoy, and The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park.

“What an artist is trying to do for people is bring them closer to something, because of course art is about sharing. You wouldn’t be an artist unless you wanted to share an experience, a thought” .

Opening on Saturday

June 1, 2026, marks the 100th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s birth. Born Norma Jeane Mortenson in 1926, she only lived to the age of 36, yet a century after her birth, she remains one of the most enduring cultural icons, sharpest business minds, and mythologised figures in Hollywood history.
