My recent body of work currently on display GALLERY 475 or view online via my link in bio.

“Sweet Pea brings together paintings of the flowers and plants growing in Kimi Zoet’s overgrown studio garden. The exhibition forms part of a longer ongoing body of work exploring ideas of wildness in London.

At the heart of the work is a simple question: What does nature look like when it is left to its own devices? Which plants thrive, which disappear, and what can they reveal about resilience, coexistence and beauty? Through close observation of this unmanaged landscape, Zoet invites us to reconsider our cultural ideas of what is beautiful, shifting our attention from the cultivated and controlled towards the overlooked, the unruly and the wild.

Sweet Pea was exhibited at Gallery 475 on Fulham Road, a space that has since become Zoet’s permanent studio.”

WHAT IF DAMAGE IS PART OF HEALTH? 🪾

I’ve been painting this coppiced willow at Knepp, as part of an ongoing art project exploring what a healthy tree looks like - and how we might learn to see nature differently.

At Knepp, beavers are felling willow and using the branches for food and to build their beaver dams.

At first, I think I would have seen a tree being repeatedly cut down as a problem.

But watching the beavers at work, I began to understand something different.

Their dams slow the flow of water and create wetland habitats. The willow isn’t simply being damaged — it is part of a much larger ecological process.

What I had initially seen as destruction was actually participation.

To everyone who came to the open studio, thank you for giving these paintings your time!

One of the things I’ve come to realise over the past year is that attention changes what we see. This body of work grew out of spending day after day in the same small studio garden, slowly noticing things I had once walked straight past.

Seeing people spend time with the paintings in exactly the same way - looking closely, asking questions, sharing their own thoughts - felt special :). It reminded me that art isn’t finished when it leaves the studio. It continues in the conversations it creates.

Thank you for being part of the beginning of that conversation. 🌿

This Thursday I’ll be opening up the studio and launching a brand new body of work at Gallery 475 in Fulham.

The collection has grown from months spent observing the wild garden behind the studio - exploring the beauty of plants, flowers and the quiet ways nature reclaims space.
