Our thoughts are with King Charles III and the Royal family as they mourn the loss of a mother, grandmother, great grandmother as well as the lady who has been a steadfast and constant part of all our lives.
You were our rock as Prince Philip was your rock.
Rest in peace Your Majesty.

Many happy and fun memories under your direction, Mick. Thank you xx

Managed to get a last minute ticket for Amelie last night. I hadn’t watched the film for a few years so went with a fairly open mind.
I wasn’t sure what I was expecting but it wasn’t what I saw!
The whole casts are actors, singers and musicians who are on stage most of the time switching characters in an ever flowing movement between the sets as pianos turn into shop windows and chairs into train carriages and the cafe where Amelie works. It is a truly remarkable production.
The only downside (which could have been because I was back row of the stalls so low ceiling above me) was the ensemble singing diction was quite tricky to understand. It did get easier once my ears were tuned into the French accents. The Solos etc were very good.
I’d like to go back again before it closes on 25 September as I’m sure I would see lots of things I missed - there is plenty of onstage action!
(I bought my ticket through Today Tix - an app recommended by someone sitting next to us at Hairspray!)

Listening to Sheridan Smith’s Showstopper podcast with Amanda Holden on BBC Sounds, Sheridan said her Mum bought a clown wig and sprayed it with orange car paint for her audition as Annie. She got the part, so just goes to show that making a bit of effort with props for an audition helps. She did mention the fumes so it’s probably best to find alternative medium for dyeing wigs!
Radio 2 has been doing musicals all weekend. Brings back memories of some wonderful songs from years back.

Today's heat brings memories of our 2014 production of "Improbable Fiction" by Alan Ayckbourn when it was sweltering outside and we were all dressed in winter clothes with the fan in the changing room drying us off between stage appearances!
It was such good fun and the illustrations from Grace's children's book of Doblin the Goblin during rehearsals still has me in fits of giggles!
