Great to be able to share this interesting project for

The Goal was to create a set of lightweight stage barrels, easy for a cast to move, with some internal storage (of course!) but solid enough to last a tour, and beyond.

Initially we tried to go all in on thin material focusing on light weight, but we found in reality that 18mm WISA formers heavily voided, combined with a 6mm birch staves hit the mark for us.. We tested 4mm Staves, but it was just a bit too delicate for them to last - yes we added a bit more weight, but the design is a balance.

I personally love projects like this: simple on the surface, quietly technical underneath - and getting the chance to test assumptions on how materials work together.

As 2025 draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the incredible projects we’ve delivered this year at OCTheatrical

In total, we worked on 26 projects, made up of:
50% Construction Drawings
20% 3D Printing (this one surprised me!)
15% Design / Ground Plans
10% IT, Networking / MEWS
5% Training

5 Projects I'm particularly proud of this year:
- Refurbishment Drawings of TOP at the RSC
- All our Work with Evolution Productions (So Much Glitter & CNC!)
- Formula E – Various Drawings
- Festival of Speed with Collaborate
- Printing of 120 large baubles in just 11 days for a Set-Up

Overall, this year has been full of ups and downs. Growth, challenges, and plenty of lessons along the way - Not everything went perfectly, but does it ever? I’m proud of what we’ve achieved and even more excited for what 2026 will bring!

Reposting this since I forgot to add it to our feed initially!

These two new machines mark another exciting moment in OCT’s Journey. 3D printing has moved on massively in the last few years and we’re excited to see what projects will be made by these beautiful machines.

We’re off to a good Start, In the last two weeks, we’ve printed over 300 parts and used almost 30kg of filament!

I recently shared an image of some of the parts of I got for my new custom , but never shared the build! Unfortunately the studio has been pretty full on, and the new PC went straight into service!

While my HP Z-Book has served me well, it’s great to have some more horsepower to run almost everything without breaking a sweat - just smooth, uninterrupted workflow.

While i never planned to change my PC this year, this is however Perfect timing, as if you’ve read this far, your the first to know my plan to start livestream what I’m calling “Wireframe Wednesday”, where I will be diving into and sharing my process of 3D modelling actual shows in - and these screens will make life… a lot easier!

In a collaboration with .shop, using their stunning design, we’ve completed a special production run of 224 Cheltenham Chairs!

Achieving an impressive output of 25 chairs every 2 hours thanks to the ever impressive

Hopefully one day, I can show you the rest of what has been a very exciting time on our 3D printers - and yes all of them have been going 24/7 for this one!

After four solid years, my trusty HP Z-Book has carried me through countless CAD Models, intricate technical drawings, and complex problem-solving sessions. But as projects grow in size and ambition, so does the need for computing power!

Throwback Thursday - In 2020 we were asked to draw 10km2 of London for a client working for a major building firm.

This was a very different type of project than we were used to.

Our key role aside from creating the basis of the model map, was also to make it cnc processes ready, and at this scale that’s a lot of lines. The final drawing contained 5k Polylines ready for CNC - A lot of XRef Tracing
