What a wonderful evening singing Steve's exquisitely curated program celebrating nature!

It was truly amazing to have Cecilia attend and listen to us perform her piece, 'A Fancy of Folksongs'. Our tenors and basses were lively sailors, while the sopranos and altos convincingly 'much disappointed' with John.

Tom’s piano playing just sparkled in the sunlight.

We have all become fans of Roth and our French accents have notably improved thanks to the guidance of our chair, Hester!

Grateful to our fantastic supporters for joining us.
Here's to a fantastic summer break for everyone!

City Chamber Choir’s summer programme takes as its starting point Hindemith’s delightful Six chansons, settings ofpoems by Rilke that explore man’s relationships, both personal, and with the natural world.
🌿
We further reflect upon this through the music of Alec Roth (Stargazer; Dawn chorus), Eric Whitacre’s Little birds, CeciliaMcDowall’s A fancy of folk songs, Bob Chilcott’s The same sun shine, and Banchieri’s Contrappunto bestiale alla mente.
🌿
There is even a chance for the audience to join us in a delicious little round by Orlando di Lasso. Profound and lightheartedby turns, the programme is a comment on the universal truths of love and friendship, the passage of time, and the stewardship of our beautiful world.
