Punch And Judy

Punch And Judy The number one online resource for performers and fans of the traditional Punch and Judy Show.

Mr Punch, and his wife Judy, have been entertaining children and adults alike for hundreds of years. From his origins in the Itallian Commedia dell'arte, to the streets of Victorian England, Edwardian beaches and 21st Century shopping malls, his funny antics and unusual attitude to life have never failed to raise a smile. This page aims to be an online meeting point for Professors and Practitioners, Fans and Families. It is not affiliated to any one of the exiting Punch organisations, and will remain politics free.

The Bayeux Tapestry has returned to England after nearly 1000 years and from today it can be seen at the British Museum.

Did you know that the Bayeux Tapestry, which dates back to the 1070s, contains the very first recorded image of a Punch and Judy performance?

In this remarkable scene, the puppets are shown entertaining Harold Godwinson, the final Anglo-Saxon monarch to rule England before the arrival of William the Conqueror and the Norman Conquest.

This year, the British Museum is offering a truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this legendary artifact in person.

Mr Punch has something exciting in the works. A joy to revisit George Cruikshanks’ magnificent illustrations from 1828.

Thank you to our lovely audience putting up with it being so moist! What a show it was, even with all the wetness. Let’s see what this weekend has in plan for us, hopefully Judy has a dry day. She needs it!
