We are profoundly sad to announce that our co-owner, Chris Stoker, passed away peacefully last Thursday. He never made a fuss about it, but he had been living with a rare form of cancer for several years. Despite a long list of ailments and complications, he continued to devote himself to his twin passions of music and fashion right to the end.

He bore it all in his usual laconic style: droll, dry-witted, with some cynicism and no shortage of sarcasm, yet underpinned by a deep love for his friends, family, and art.

Alongside Dan Mitchell, we dreamt up Bad Passion and, from the wreckage of many, many very long nights, came Not An Animal. Somehow, we released over twenty records and DJ’d together all over the world.

Our love and condolences go to his wife, Sarah May, and to his family and friends.

Please go out, raise a glass, and celebrate Chris’s life. As he said, “Never underestimate the healing power of a good time.”

Big shoes to fill we know so to plug the leak the team have spent the winter months hunting down a rare treat and are thrilled to announce that with complete disregard to our own safety have located and captured the festive Sasquatch himself, (or for one night only, Andy Wayneridge ) For safe keeping he is chained up in the garden with plenty of straw and a abundance of Percy Pigs until NYE where he will taken by armed es**rt to the venue and locked in the booth to perform for you before being released back into the wild. will be in the booth with him wearing protective clothing more akin to a lion tamer than a support act.

Last month, we released part one of the new Not An Animal compilation to mark its tenth anniversary. This week, we're delighted to announce that part two is about to be thrown out of the nest to fend for itself.

We're overwhelmed with the support we've received and never thought we'd garner as much material as we did, so much so that we had to split it into two parts. We feel it's a fitting representation of our evolution over the years and of our tastes both on and off the dance floor. We are humbled to have the opportunity and platform to showcase such a broad church of talent, and would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in the project.

To celebrate the release of 10 year anniversary compilation, The Curse of Bad Passion, we’re throwing a small party.

In the spirit of the Bad Passion parties which eventually spawned the record label were back heading back to Dalston where the grubby little saga began albeit in much more refined environment. Join us from 10-6am on Friday 7th November and help to put the beautiful sound system through its paces.

A milestone is upon us. Ten years have evaporated since the inception of Not An Animal Records, closer to 18 if you factor in the Bad Passion era from which the label was born. No one's as surprised as we are.

To mark the occasion, we are releasing a two-part compilation featuring many of the artists we've worked with over the years, whether releasing or remixing alongside a host of new names we welcome to the label.
