Fundraiser for our beloved Mirca Morera (1977 - 2026)🌹

In January, our community lost Mirca. She founded Save Latin Village, and dedicated her life advocating for the rights of Latin Americans in the UK and beyond. As her community, we’re in deep grief over the loss of our dear friend.

Next week❗️Taking Back Tottenham: What is community ownership, why do communities plan, and what could this mean for our neighbourhood? 📣

An open meeting & participatory workshop: 6.30 - 9pm (7pm start) // Wednesday April 26 // College of North East London (CONEL), High Rd, N15 4RU

Rooted in the struggle to save Wards Corner from demolition, the Wards Corner Community Plan will refurbish the historic buildings and provide a new cultural hub for everyone in Tottenham.

For our second workshop, we’re excited to be joined by Yvonne Field from the Ubele Initiative and Dave Morris from the Our Tottenham Network, who’ll help us learn about Tottenham’s proud history of community planning. 💥

We’ll then explore how the Wards Corner Plan can help continue this legacy with market traders and members of the Community Benefit Society, before a participatory workshop on what community ownership could mean for our neighbourhoods.

“We are community organisers from the Latin Village in Seven Sisters, Tottenham, also known as “El Pueblito Paisa”, an indoor market that has been a place of pride and solace for Latin Americans in London.

We are grateful to be partnering with VFD for this display as part of ‘Hispanic Heritage Month’, a contentious month that coincides with Christopher Colombus and European colonizers’ conquest and subsequent destruction of the territories today understood as Latin America. As q***r folk and as part of a community that includes Black, Brown, Indigenous and migrant people, we are reframing this month to honour the resistance of our ancestors. This month is also Indigenous People’s Day and Black History Month in which we see our fight connected to and inspired by the wider diaspora. We want to show what it has taken us to get here and why we are here to stay…” Read the full piece at
