The route includes this statue of one of Bristol's most famous sons, Hollywood Golden Age legend, Archibald Leach.

We’ve just launched our new treasure hunt in Stratford-Upon-Avon. http://www.treasuredays.com/treasure-hunts/stratford-upon-avon-treasure-hunt

The route starts in the centre of town, and focuses on Henley Street, site of Shakespeare’s Birthplace and the Shakespeare Centre.

The second half of the hunt is in Bancroft Gardens beside the River Avon. As well as the grand Gower Memorial to the bard, it contains this more modern statue of ‘Young Will’. There are also figures of Bottom and Titania made from willow twigs, and, more surprisingly, a statue of the mythological character Hermaphroditus, originally made for the Great Exhibition.

We checked our Soho & Chinatown treasure hunt on Monday, and the updates are nearly complete. Glad that perhaps our all-time favourite picture clue can still be seen at Sir Tom Baker tailors in D'Arblay Street.

We recently visited Stratford-upon-Avon to check out whether it would make a good location for a new treasure hunt. It looks great, and we'll be heading back in the spring to set the hunt. Meanwhile, it will certainly include this statue celebrating the jesters in Shakespeare.

We've now published a blog about the stained-glass windows at Fairford Church, which we visited last week. It looks at the first 5 windows, which show key scenes from the Bible from the Garden of Eden to the Crucifixion, with a particular focus on the Virgin Mary, the patron saint of the church.

The next 4 windows deal with the burial and resurrection of Christ, with window 9 (shown here) including the miraculous draught of fishes, the Ascension - shown as an oddly ph***ic mountain - and Pentecost.

Researching possible locations for a new treasure hunt route, we visited Fairford in Gloucestershire yesterday. St. Mary's Church there has a fantastic set of 28 medieval stained glass windows. We'll be putting a full blog about them on our website shortly. But meanwhile here is one of the north side clerestory windows depicting enemies of the church: in this case the emperor Maxentius, Attila the Hun with bow and arrow, and Herod the Great holding a victim of the Massacre of the Innocents.

We have today launched our two new Edinburgh treasure hunts. We now offer a choice of an Edinburgh: Old Town and an Edinburgh: New town treasure hunt (replacing our previous single Edinburgh hunt covering both)

After looping round past Greyfriars Bobby and the Toon Coo, the central part of the Old Town route heads up the Royal Mile to end in front of Edinburgh Castle . There are memories of several colourful characters along the way, including Deacon Brodie, a city big-wig by day and a master criminal at night, and the man on whom Stevenson based Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. http://www.treasuredays.com/treasure-hunts/edinburgh-old-town-treasure-hunt

The New Town route starts in Princes Street by the Scott Memorial, then heads for St Andrew Square, along George Street Charlotte Square, and back along Rose Street with its street art and numerous pubs.

The final part of the route is in Princes Street Gardens. This beautiful park contains several memorials to Scottish regiments and to allied forces based here during the World Wars. One of the most unusual depicts Wojtek, the Syrian brown bear adopted by Polish troops in 1942. The Edinburgh Festival starts a week today, and on Monday we will be launching our new Edinburgh treasure hunts. We will be replacing our existing hunt with two new ones. The first explores the Old Town, including much of the Royal Mile, and ends outside Edinburgh Castle. The second is in the Georgian New Town, and ends in Princes Street Gardens.
