Here's a question for you... when did you last think about your loft? 🤔

On Saturday 21 June, we're running a hands-on DIY Day on Greening Your Roofs, Lofts and Walls with EcoAlex and Mike Wye. It's practical, accessible, and designed for people who want to actually understand what's going on in their own home — not just nod along to a contractor.

Insulation is one of the most effective ways to cut your energy bills and reduce your home's carbon footprint. This workshop will give you the knowledge and confidence to take the next step.

Still to come in our Summer of DIY: a repointing workshop on 28 June and Solar Power Sundays running 5–19 July. Plus free lunchtime webinars all summer long.

Fully subsidised Energy Champion spaces are available for those who qualify — head to the link to find out more.
Who's ready to get stuck in?

Learn the basics and gain practical skills to make your home's roof a force for good.

Here’s a simple truth... how we shop matters.
When we choose pre‑loved over brand new, we keep things out of landfill, save precious resources like water and energy, and help slow down the waste cycle that fast fashion feeds on. We need to shift how we think about the things we buy and wear and make reuse a normal part of everyday life.

Let’s keep asking ourselves: could this be second‑hand? Good for the planet often ends up being good for us too.

Second Hand September is back for the whole month of September, and it’s a great opportunity to rethink how we shop, save money, and reduce our environmental footprint all at once.

Something as tiny as a straw might not seem like much on its own, but all those little bits of plastic add up in our oceans, rivers and streets. Plastic straws don’t break down quickly and often end up where they shouldn’t, harming wildlife and polluting ecosystems. Saying no to single-use straws or choosing reusable alternatives is a simple choice we can make every day that cuts waste and sends a message that we care about our environment. It’s one of those easy habits that fits into daily life and reminds us we can all do something to reduce plastic pollution. Read more here:

Every year, on the fourth Friday of February, individuals around the globe observe Skip the Straw Day – a day dedicated to reducing plastic waste and its detrimental effects on our environment. This year, the event falls on 28th February 2025.

Happy World Environment Day from all of us at Bexley Eco & Wellness Fest! 🌿

This year's theme is a reminder that our planet needs us but it also needs us to look after each other. Because sustainability isn't just about recycling and reusable cups. It's about the kind of community we build.

That's what we try to do every year: bring people together around practical ideas, good conversation, and a shared belief that Bexley can lead the way.

Our next festival is coming in 2026. But the community… that's happening right now.
How are you marking World Environment Day this year? 🌱

Every year on 5th June, people come together for World Environment Day, a global initiative led by the United Nations. It is to encourage awareness and action toward protecting our planet.

Summer is finally here and we're kicking it off with something special!

On Saturday 7 June, we're partnering with Blue Patch and Bell House for a Festival of Retrofit, a family-friendly day of talks, workshops, activities, and stalls all about making your home cleaner, greener, and cheaper to run.

Whether you're curious about insulation, energy bills, or just want to explore what's possible, this is the perfect place to start. Bring the kids, bring your questions, bring your neighbours.

And this is just the beginning! Our Summer of DIY runs all the way through July, with workshops on greening your roofs and lofts, repointing, solar power, and more. Free and low-cost spaces available — including fully subsidised spots for those who qualify as Energy Champions.

Come along on the 7th and find out what the rest of the summer has in store!

A day of creative repair workshops, talks and stalls for healthy homes and neighbourhoods!

Kids who learn about sustainability don't just care about the planet, they actually do something about it too.
Bexley Eco Fest runs some brilliant programmes in local schools. Think wormeries, litter picks, musical instruments made from waste materials, and scavenger hunts themed around recycling and ocean plastics. There's even Plastic Pioneers, a collaboration with TK Maxx and Homesense that helps schools tackle single-use plastics together.

These aren't just fun activities (though they really are fun). They build habits, teamwork skills, and a genuine sense of responsibility that sticks.

If your school isn't involved yet, now's the time to change that. And if your kids have taken part, we'd love to hear what they got up to! 🌱

Getting kids interested in sustainability has plenty of benefits – they learn about taking care of our planet, develop teamwork skills, and have fun while doing it!

This World Environment Day, we're thinking about something simple: the small things add up.

A reusable bag. A meal made from leftovers. A jumper from a charity shop instead of something new. None of it is perfect. All of it matters.

Here in Bexley, we've got a community that's already doing this through the Re-users upcycling group, our Schools Green Awards, and thousands of people who show up every day because they care.
You don't have to overhaul your life. Just pick one thing this week and do it.

What's your one thing going to be? Drop it in the comments.

Sustainability is easier when you don't have to figure it out alone.
That's why we love the partnerships that make up the Bexley Eco community. Families can get a free £50 voucher towards reusable nappies through Real Nappies for London. Local sewing and repair workshops with Nicola Corrigan help you extend the life of your clothes instead of binning them. School groups can visit Cory's Energy from Waste site in Belvedere to see exactly what happens to their rubbish and how it becomes electricity.

From nappies to needlework to hands-on site visits, these partnerships make greener living practical and accessible for everyone in Bexley.

Which of these would you love to get involved with? Let us know!

For us at Cory, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword, it’s our mission. Through partnerships with inspiring local organisations, we’re helping the Bexley community take steps towards a more eco-conscious lifestyle. Whether it’s reducing waste, reusing resources, or learning valuable life ski...
