We have 8 fully equipped, acoustically treated, professional rehearsal studios, open 7 days a week 10am–11pm. All stu

dios feature air-conditioning & central heating, natural light, quality Mackie or Allen&Heath PA systems and Sennheiser / Shure mics. Recording at The Premises - Solar-Powered Studio A

1000 sq ft roof-top recording studio with 4 isolated areas plus a beautiful conservatory area, all with acres of natural light. 24 channel SSL console, Protools 12, brand new 32 i/o HDX rig, extensive outboard gear and a superb range of mics. Waves, Komplete 10, percussion, guitars, amps, Fender Rhodes and a Yamaha grand piano all included. With more and more artists becoming eco-aware it was only a matter of time before a fully-fledged eco studio became a reality. The Premises Cafe

The Premises Cafe opens daily at 8am serving continuously from breakfast through to dinner to 11pm. Fresh menu from 5.30pm with fabulous Turkish Mangal Grills, Daily Specials and Salads. Fully licensed, with a good selection of wines, beers and spirits. Closed Sunday evenings only.

Hackney has a deep musical history.
We have been part of it for decades.

In association with Hackney History Festival, we are opening our doors for a live podcast exploring the story of The Premises Studios, an East London institution and a cafe that has supported London’s working music community for forty years.

We have been a place for writing, rehearsing and recording.
A space shaped by the artists who have passed through,
from Nina Simone to Radiohead and from Blur to Ezra Collective.

At the centre of our story is Viv Broughton.

🎙️ Join us as Jeremy Newton sits down with Viv, musician, journalist, author, and owner of The Premises.

As a musician he played with David Bowie.
As a journalist he co-founded The Voice.
As an author he wrote Too Close To Heaven, a seminal history of gospel music.
And as CEO of The Premises, he has guided us through decades of social, political and economic change to become one of London’s most cherished working studios and multi-purpose creative spaces.
