Statement from The Craicheads

Following last week’s sentencing, we feel it is important to address the situation directly.

We ended all involvement with this individual in November of last year.

As a band, we take this matter with the utmost seriousness. We were not aware of his 2023 conviction or his placement on the S*x Offenders Register. We are shocked and deeply disappointed. His behaviour is completely unacceptable and does not reflect the values of our band in any way. He has been permanently removed from The Craicheads and will play no part in any future activities.

The actions in question are solely those of the individual concerned. We stand firmly with the women affected and condemn his behaviour and all forms of harassment. While we cannot comment on any ongoing processes, we want to be absolutely clear: there is no place in our band—or in our community—for behaviour that harms or disrespects women.

We support the women who came forward and remain committed to ensuring a safe, respectful environment for everyone.
