First outing of the year for our road car…

The undoubted highlight of 2025 was Chitty’s remarkable participation in a musical spectacular held at Horse Guards Parade in Central London. This prestigious event was graced by the presence of Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal. What a week it was, and Chitty shone in every possible way. Absolutely unforgettable - Just wish it happened every year!

THE ISLE OF MAN STAGE CAR ADVENTURE… (With photo story)
The adventure started with an early morning departure on Sunday, setting off at 5am for a 2pm ferry sailing. Everything went smoothly until disaster struck just 13 miles from the dock at Heysham (Morecambe). The lorry broke down with total loss of power and every error message possible, leaving me stranded on narrow bit of the hard shoulder of the M6 for six long hours in the rain. The truck’s ECU was completely fried so the vehicle would need to be recovered. Adding to the stress, the trailer was full of important Chitty props which were due at a theatre the next morning. With the ferry now missed, the situation became more urgent by the minute. Thankfully, Wood’s Recovery came to the rescue, transporting both me and the trailer to Heysham docks. However, here I encountered the most obstructive a**hole of a security jobsworth who added another 90 minutes to the misery (the unit/cab was staying in the UK for repair now, so the paperwork no longer matched and oh boy did he enjoy that) Finally, the trailer got onto the night ferry unaccompanied. (12 hours later than planned) and was picked up in the early hours and taken safely to the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas by the wonderful Sean Quaye from Freight Hub. Massive shout out to him!
Everyone at the Christine Wild Theatre School were so very supportive and kind. They deserve the best of luck for their show – Do go see it if you’re on the island. I had a lovely day showing how all the props work, and it turned a nightmare back into the dream that Chitty being my living can be!! Just need a few days sleep now, then figure how to get my lorry back from the repairers hundreds of miles away, and crowd-fund the cost of the repair and recovery! 😂Report ends
