The Local

London Live Music Company For nigh-on two decades, The Local London has been an ebb and flow affair. Before The Local there was Knom Music. Stadiums even.

A labour of love (and ALL the other emotions) for founder Howard Monk, and all of the brilliant folks who have worked at and with The Local. We bring shows and tours together by some of the finest waifs and strays making music at this, or at any other time. There was nothing at all for a time (which neatly coincided with a global pandemic). Some acts who have passed through the revolving door that

we are, you may have subsequently seen headlining festivals or arenas. Most of the folks who have worked with us have similarly gone on to great things. Nostalgia aint what it used to be!

Throwback to the time we organised a few shows for at the beginning of his touring life. Managed to snag a slot stage to boot.

We are sorry to cancel the upcoming Horse Loom // Lucy Kitchen show.
The reason being that there was no movement in sales despite best efforts so in discussion with the artists we felt it best to pull this.
Many apologies to anyone planning to come. And especially to the artists.
Look forward to future shows from us.

Our Story

The Local is currently resting... (14 Sept 2019)

The Local London has very much been at the centre of the fringes of live music since 1998 (in various names and guises). Our list of acts promoted and roster alumni is something of which we are very proud.

Given that for most part it's been the work of just one human then it's a wonder The Local still exists, and of course there have been many times the question has been asked "Why the f**k do we do this?" or "Why don't we just stop?” (Other people have asked that question too)

The thing is, once all things are stripped away and you've a blank slate - it's simply a calling (that's a comment I need to credit the late great Richard Antwi for). Seeing or hearing a new act that resonates and fills you with the feeling that you could do something to help. Put it here, with these guys, or in there with those guys. Or make sure this or that or other person hears it. That's a driver it's hard to shake off. So here we are, probably almost 20 years in, and still doing it.

If you're a new act reading this and can relate to any of the bands in the lists below then you could do worse than come and say hello, do a show or a tour with us.

If you're an agent reading this you're probably circling, like many have before, trying to develop your own taste yet instead just appropriating someone else's. I'm only half joking. I'm very proud of the fact that many of the acts that have been on The Local roster are now doing very well with others.

If you're a promoter reading this then look at some of the acts who've been on the roster in the past and take a chance on some of the newer names. You might be promoting a killer act for the next ten years!

THE LOCAL is run by intrepid and highly skilled music activists, who draw upon an extended pool of experts in all kinds of areas, bringing great events and projects to fruition. We manage, promote, curate, book, project manage and consult the heck out of all kinds of good stuff, and we love to collaborate, so do get in touch.
