Hillside Gardens Park News from the community group 'Friends of Hillside Gardens and Palace Road Nature Gardens'.

Hillside Gardens Park is well used park located between Hillside Road and Kingsmead Road in the Streatham Hill/Tulse Hill area of Lambeth. Within the park there is a one o'clock club for parents and carers with toddlers, a playground for young children, two football and basketball courts, four tennis courts, a dog run and a dog free picnic area. The gardens are beautifully laid out with many mature trees, flowering shrubs and flower borders as well as a food growing area and newly planted fruit trees. There is something for everyone and this makes the park a real community centre which has now been awarded the prestigious Green Flag for four years running.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today for a successful Sports Day followed by the evening film screening of the Princess Bride.

The rain held off and a good time was had by all.

Thanks to all our own volunteers for their hard work through the day, and to our partners from Streatham Free Film Festival and the Hive Cafe

Unfortunately both of the toilets at Hillside Gardens have been vandalised removing the facility for everyone. If you have any idea who did it please talk to them. The funds need to be found to repair them. I saw the ladies and the flush handle had been deliberately and forcefully broken. It must have taken quite an effort to break it.

They are well used and well looked after by the Council.

Sorry to bring bad news on a Monday morning! The Friends will be liaising with the Council.

3pm next week on the MUGA Sport and Fitness trainer JR will use basketball to do a fitness circuit. A 30 minute taster, all ages welcome.

The Friends charity have adopted the Doodlebug garden to ensure that it is looked after

Doodlebug Garden, Wavertree Road
Just before midnight on 27th July 1944, a V1 landed here and killed Charles Kerby, a nearby resident living at 23 Wavertree Road. The site was neglected for many years but this garden has now been created by local residents.

This years sports day is going to be very chilled in the morning! Come along at 10am for a Sound Bath in the park with Emma followed by Tai Chi at 11 with Lee! There will be coffee on sale after!
