IKLECTIK LIVE: Costumes of Sound

You are invited to witness, to move, to dance, and to stay with the excitement of creation at Costumes of Sound this weekend at IKLECTIK.

This special event brings together artists working across the intersections of live performance, wearable art, costume making, and sonic environments.

ARTIST FOCUS 🔎 -

Luca Bosani (b.1990, Italy, he/they) is a multimedia artist working across sculpture, painting, fashion, and performance. Their practice interrogates systems of power, identity, and representation, with a particular focus on how bodies are shaped, controlled, and politicised through visual and cultural codes. Through wearable sculptures, performative actions and painting, Bosani challenges dominant structures such as gender binaries, militarised aesthetics, and authoritarian forms of display.

Collaboration and collective activation are pivotal to Bosani’s practice. Their work often involves performers and participants, using ‘UPOs’ (Unidentified Performing Objects) as both practical and conceptual tools to support gender non-conforming individuals, LGBTQI+ communities, neurodivergent people, and young participants. By creating artworks and spaces that are inclusive and open-ended, Bosani’s practice fosters visibility, critical reflection, and embodied forms of resistance.

> We cannot wait to welcome K’BOKO, a Brazilian music producer, performer, percussionist, music therapist, and social worker whose sound he calls “high ancient future vibes.” Blending Afro-diasporic rhythms with 808s, sub-bass, and synths, his music fuses ancestral drums with electronic textures. Rooted in traditional percussion, K’BOKO crafts immersive journeys that connect Afro-Brazilian cadences and global bass, bridging Afro-Brazilian rhythms and underground dancefloors.

> K’BOKO uses music as a tool for healing and empowerment. Through social and therapeutic projects with refugees and marginalised youth, he brings rhythm, connection, and creative freedom to communities in transition, proving that music can be both resistance and refuge.

> For one evening, IKLECTIK brings together Joshua Woolford, I Am Fya and K’BOKO, each offering distinct approaches to sound as an embodied and spatial practice. Their work spans cultural research, diasporic identity, spirituality and rhythm, from Woolford’s exploration of lived experience and socio-political realities to I Am Fya’s visual album Homeland, exploring identity, culture and radical self‑love, and K’BOKO’s immersive blend of Afro-Brazilian rhythms with electronic production and synths to create immersive journeys.

> Shortwave is a new festival of sound and performance unfolding across four independent venues in South East London. IKLECTIK, London Performance Studios, Ormside Projects and South London Gallery bring together international and local artists, musicians and DJs, for two nights of commissioned live works, experimentation and performance.

Single and festival tickets are available via the link in bio.

IK KIN: MAP/making Project X Guildhall EPM
Sunday 10th May 7pm

Join us for an informal evening of audio-visual performances where the MAP/making Project will share works in progress, followed by a showcase of performances from Guildhall School’s Electronic and Produced Music department (EPM).

MAP/making (Music, Art and Performance) is an educational platform for interdisciplinary collaboration established in 2000. Rooted in a collaborative, exploratory ethos, the project brings together artists working across sound, visual art, and performance.

This work-in-progress by students from Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Royal College of Art unfolds as a live, interdisciplinary set - experimental music, installation, and action - eight short devised pieces emerging from exciting new collaborations.

Guildhall School’s EPM department presents a showcase of original music:

Genia Isachenko
Sound artist and vocalist working with obsolete tech and experimental performance. A live surround set using small speakers, amps, and radios.

Rebecca’s Jewellery – An opening of a flower
Audio collages and text exploring honesty within abstraction.

Philippa Godsalve & Anton Sconosciuto – Scatterism
Harp and drums collide in fast-paced, improvised sound worlds shaped by tape, resampling, and hidden electronics—reflecting the overwhelm of London life.
MAP/making Project Credits:

MAP 2026 is lead by and with Sonnie Carlesbach

ARTIST FOCUS 🔎 -

Katy Howe is a UK-based multidisciplinary visual artist working across performance, moving image, sculpture, photography, collage and drawing. Initially trained as a dancer, she spent over twelve years performing professionally before completing a BA from Byam Shaw School of Art and an MA from Central Saint Martins both in Fine Art.

Her practice engages with the intersection of embodiment, representation and subjectivity, with particular attention to questions of visibility, belonging and desire as they are mediated through the sexed body. An autobiographical thread runs through her work, with her own body frequently operating as both material and point of departure.

Her background in dance and theatre continues to shape the temporal and spatial qualities of her work. Across mediums, she returns to the body as a critical site where private experience and public meaning intersect, at times aligning and at others coming into tension. Through this, her work addresses broader questions around identity and the female condition.

ANNOUNCEMENT 📣

Part of our IK KIN programme, we are excited to host Only Breath by Breath Quartet
26 March | Doors 7PM start 7.30PM

A live immersive durational performance where electronic sound, voice, movement, and ritual converge around the elemental act of breathing.

Only Breath unfolds over 3 hours as a shared sensory environment moving between sound installation, meditation, and dance floor. Across four movements — WAKE, FLIGHT, DREAM, DANCE — the audience is guided through shifting states of perception and embodied exploration.

Fragments of mythic text, layered electronic soundscapes, vocal improvisation, choreography, and projection create a living feedback loop between sound, body, and space. Audiences are invited to move, rest, listen, and dance within the performance.

Breath Quartet is a collective of four artists: Patrick Ziza (movement), Marcus Herne (sound), James Merrell (visuals), and Margot Wilson (artist and founder). Their fully improvised performances explore breath as rhythm, presence, and collective attunement.

Tickets now live on DICE.
