Temporary closure Friday 26 June ☀️🌡️

Due to the forecast hot weather, the Zoo will temporarily close for 2 hours at 4pm (last entry 3pm) on Friday 26 June.

Zoo Nights will continue to go ahead from 6pm as planned, and we’re looking forward to welcoming guests for a relaxed evening at the Zoo.

This short closure will enable us to best support the wellbeing of our animals, visitors and staff during the hottest part of the afternoon.

The only pundit you need to listen to at this World Cup - Derek the dik-dik ⚽️

Mystic Derek the dik-dik has predicted a draw for England against Ghana, with sadly no goals for Bellingham or Kane. We all hope he is wrong 🤞

Did you see the dragon flying over London this weekend in anticipation of House of the Dragon? 🐉

We work alongside with our Komodo dragon named Khalessi to advance understanding of Komodo dragons and safely monitor her health.

Through crate training our Zookeepers are able to build a strong bond with Khaleesi, ensuring she is comfortable with up close checks and always in tip-top shape.

Dads - they owe you a day at London Zoo 💚

For over 200 years we've been helping people get closer. Closer to wildlife, and closer together - making memories that last a lifetime.

Tomorrow, for Father's day, thanks to a legacy donation, we are running a whole host of special activities to mark the day, from Dad-themed animal talks to arts and crafts for the family to do together.

Make this one a Father's day to remember. We'll see you tomorrow!

Could England take home the world cup in our anniversary year? 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏆

Throwback to when a very fresh-faced Gary Lineker visited us around 1989, between his two world cup appearances. This young Spurs player had amazing achievements ahead of him, having been awarded a golden boot in Mexico, 40 years ago this year, and then earning (and still holding) the record for the most world cup goals ever scored by any individual England player, at 10 goals across 2 tournaments.

Obviously, we’re hopeful that Harry Kane beats him (this evening would be nice, Harry – we know you have 8 already), but most importantly we want to wish the lads all the luck in the world tonight and beyond.

We’re loving resurfacing memories like this from over 2 centuries of ZSL history, throughout our anniversary year. Huge thanks to our ZSL Library and Archives team for unearthing this previously unseen gem!
