Alongside the racks you’ll find collectors’ pieces, first pressings and harder-to-track-down records, plus speakers, amps and players 🔊

Perform if you fancy it, or simply grab a seat and lend your ears.

🎶 New month. Fresh frequencies. Same Saturday mischief 💃

After our little August intermission, Saturday Jam Nite is back at The Others TONIGHT and OddJob Man are back at the helm for the first jam of September. ✨

Musos, singers, MCs, poets, dancers, DJs, artists, seasoned jammers and first-timers — there’s room for the lot of you 🎤

Drop into a groove, throw an idea into the mix, respond to somebody else’s sound or simply come along for the ride. Nobody quite knows what combinations will emerge until they happen 🥁🎹🎙️

Expect a collision of breaks, funk, soul, DnB, folk, bass, brass, beats and consciously lyrical sounds throughout the night.

💥 September’s arrived. THE SCRAP has something to say about it 🎭

Doors are open and September’s THE SCRAP is ready to make some noise at The Others 🎭⚡

No Such Theatre returns for another evening of scratch theatre, new writing and live music — a playground for pieces still being shaped, strange little sparks of inspiration, and performances you’re catching at the beginning of their lives 🎤

🎶 Jasper Price gets things moving with live music from 7:15pm, before tonight’s words take over:

No Such Theatre takes over Thursday with another wonderfully unfinished assortment of scratch theatre, new writing, live music and jam shares.

This month brings live music from Jasper Price plus Dark Choice, Pink Pencil Case, Baby Steps, Dancing in the Moonlight and more.

Come witness ideas while they’re still becoming whatever they’re going to become.

No spectatorship required here — OddJob Man hosts another Saturday where the room belongs to whoever wants to contribute 🎤

Remote controls at the ready, amps waiting in the wings… another wonderfully unconventional Sunday is loading at The Others 🤖🎸

TONIGHT at The Others, Tolerable Music & Robotics brings Rock & Robots ~ 35 to Stoke Newington 😎

An evening where miniature mechanical warfare and live music somehow make perfect sense together.

From 5:30pm, settle in for the evening as the antweight robots prepare to enter the arena. These tiny contraptions may be small enough to hold in your hands, but once the fighting begins, they’ve got considerably bigger ambitions 🤖⚙️

Then comes the music, with tonight’s live lineup featuring:

And the fun doesn’t stop with the scheduled programme — expect opportunities to get closer to the robot action, followed later by the laid-back open mic-style after-party.

Between bouts and bands, there’s plenty more to discover around The Others: browse the racks at Vinylly Found, grab one of the sofas, revisit some classics on the SNES, play table football or get yourself something from the bar.

This month features poet Jah-Mir Early + musician Hugmonger and The Word Zoo house band Vibe Machine, alongside the book raffle, Boomerang Poems and open mic slots.

The Advanced Open Mic is now SOLD OUT but there will be more slots available on the door at open mic sign-up.

A new season of The Word Zoo begins, as we return from our summer break with two featured acts bringing poetry, music, comedy and spontaneity to the room.

🎤 FEATURED POET — JAH-MIR EARLY
Jah-Mir Early

Jah-Mir Early is an American poet, storyteller and improv spokenword artist whose performances are created in the moment, following the unexpected connections of his mind wherever they lead.

He’s a regular performer, previous feature act and longtime supporter of The Word Zoo, so we can’t wait to hear what he adds to Soulful September vibes.

We were also lucky enough to sit down with Jah-Mir on episode 8 of his spoken.be podcast — make sure to check it out if you haven’t already 👀🎧

Roops

Roops brings together words, music and comedy, transforming everyday subjects into unexpectedly hard-hitting songs and rap bangers over his own self-produced beats or played on his mandolin, on his own or with a band.

He’s also another regular performer, previous feature act, and Word Zoo Not-So-Christmassy Christmas cast member 👀😂🎸 so we can’t wait to hear what he brings to the stage in Soulful September.

A little intermission this week… we’ll see you on the other side 🎶✨

It’s a quiet one at The Others this week, with no events taking place and Vinylly Found taking a short break too 💿

So, no need to make the journey upstairs this time — we’re giving the amps, the stage and the record racks a few days off.

But we won’t be gone for long… here’s what we have coming up next week!

The Word Zoo returns on Thursday 3rd September, bringing poetry, music, spoken word and plenty of character back into the room.

From the rehearsal room to Tribal Earth… 🌿🎶
